    Hi,

I am interested in doing a PhD in Economics. I have been trying to research schools and programmes online but am finding some aspects of the search quite difficult.

Are there any outlets where I can look and compare different schools, find out about funding and get a general overview of what a PhD program is like?

I am not too bothered about what country I do this in, however finances may constrain me. I would be confident about my academic achievements to the point where I don't think they would be a problem either, but I am only fluent in English.

Some input or advice on this would be greatly appreciated.:)

    Alan

    Hey Al_Fernz,

Just in case you don't get any answers here you should know that there's an Economics forum here too.

For what it's worth, econ students graduate schools in the states have a tough time financing the first few years of their masters/PhDs, and the course content seems much more mathematically vigorous than the Irish equivalent, so it might be a difficult transition.

    Thanks for the feedback Cathal.

My research has continued and I have been looking at this site:
    http://www.findaphd.com/

There seems to be a few intresting links there.

As far as I can remember, Roundtower is doing a PhD in Economics. You could try PM'ing him. He's a nice guy. :)
