Transfer / Refund Road Tax?

My mate wrote off her car few weeks ago, turns out she had just taxed said car for 6 months, anyone know if she can transfer this tax to new car or get refund - you can in the UK but never seen anything in Ireland about this..

If the car is being scrapped, I believe it is possible to get a refund for the period starting from the start of the next month until the expiry date on the disk. If the car is being sold on, the tax remains with the car.
