hello folks, from Tuesday I'll settle in Dublin for professional reasons, I come from Belgium.
I've already been twice in Dublin as a tourist and I must see it's a great city.

I'll have to look for a studio in the Sandyford part of Dublin, if someone can give me tips, it'd be nice.

Also, what are the main suburbs of Dublin? I've heard of Finglas and Sandyford but what are the others?

    thanks

There really are loads. Sandyford is further out than Finglas though and on a different side of the city. Why are you set on moving to Sandyford?

Commuting is a huge problem in Dublin. Seriously consider somewhere close to where you will work or study or that has good links to that place.

If you are working in Sandyford Industrial Estate, consider somewhere in the area or on the green Luas (tram) line. www.mkmap.com/dublin If you want to socialise in the city centre, it would make sense to find somewhere between work and the city centre - taxis can get expensive.

Most properties around Sandyford will either be 1-2 bedroom apartments or 3-4 bedroom houses, studios would be rare. You will find some studios or bed-sits* nearer the city centre, especially in Rathmines and Ranelagh. www.daft.ie

A bed-sit is like a studio, but you may be sharing some bathroom, kitchen or laundry facilities.

aa ok, what's cool is that the Luas serves Sandyford to the city centre in 20 minutes i've seen...

I'll move there because I'll work for American Airlines at the Sandyford Industrial Estate and for the first month, i've got an appartment near the office but after that i'll have to find a studio for me, I couldn't afford a flat, it'd cost me an arm and a leg

thanks for this precious info, I only have 1 month to find a studio so I think that the first thing I'll do is looking for studios as nearer as possible as my job

Many people get together to share a house - it tends to be cheaper.

Yeah, probably a good idea to share. Helps you get to know people too. Welcome to Ireland, hope you have a great time here

check out daft.ie for renting a place...you'll get an idea of the prices involved in looking for a studio, it'll be hard to find much you'd be comfortable in for less than 800/900 per month. Don't worry tho, if you share, which is the only way to go when new in town, you'll get something much better. Also you'll have waaay more fun. You can arrange to meet up with people and look for something together using that website.

thanks for your advice, I will check this out, it indeed seems fun to share as I don't know many people for now
