Not necessarily drink, could have been on drugs, which gives any arsehole no matter how big the confidence for lots of things. also don't forget aggressive animals come from all walks of society, UCD being no exception

The point is that the poster thought UCD is very hush hush about sucide and depression, which is completely not true considering the time and money put into the Please Talk campaign on campus.

Well money was pumped in but thats about it.Ask Professor Kevin Malone, the leading psychiatrist on suicide and head of suicdology studies in vincents on what he thinks of the please talk camapign and he will tell you its a sham. There was no consultation with health care professionals though they accredited Prof Malone with this.
Yes,the thought was/is there and sentiment right but it is not an effective anti suicde prevention programme cos its basically organised by a priest and a few students on a sabbatical year. Its improved a bit this year with the series of talks that Viv has introduced but please talk is hardly a success.

The please talk campaign should have fought for an increase in the non existent funding for youth mental health issues in this country and should have tackled the complete lack of psychologists/psychiatrists on campus. The money should have been pumped into where it was needed to ensure there is an adequate amount of psychologists and councillers for students to actually talk to, to try and alleviate from the massive waiting lists there is now. Instead the money has been pumped into cardboard cutouts, huge posters, publicity stunts, baloon releasing,t shirts, badges etc etc Theres no point having a please talk camaipgn when there is noone to talk to.

And the poster is compeltly right, suicde is completly hush hush.Ive known two people to commit suicide in UCD,one a class mate and the other a personal friend, and not in one case was it actually spoken that he had comitted suicide.Everyone knew it but It was never actually said and discussed among friends, family, class, lecturers etc. I think this is what the poster mean by hush/hush. Oh and try getting a statistic from a college representative on the amount of people who have commited suicide in UCD this year. You wont get one I can assure you cos the college want to keep something that reflects badly on the college.like suicde quiet.

Just wondering... what does expelling from college look like...
is there a list of crimes e.g. stabbing a person or illegally driving without L plate?
