I think we can all honestly say that the political left is far more divided than its antagonists, which, I feel is the reason we are so marginal in comparisson to them. We are painted as "Loonies" by a self-proclaimed socialist Taoiseach.

I know that there are fundamental differences in policy between all the left-wing groups in Ireland, but surely we can work together better on some issues at least. We all agree about things like Shannon and Rossport and the Lisbon Treaty, yet we lack co-ordination on these and many other issues. At most protests, pickets or whatever, we tend to stcik to our own, we organise protests without letting others know, we take credit for group activities etc etc. We're going to have to work together better on some issues at least if we're ever going to present a credible threat to the right.

I'm not trying to set up the next great political movement anytime this year, but if what I've said makes sense to any other left-wingers here, please e-mail me at <mod snip>. At first, just getting in contact with one another would be a start, but if there are enough of us, and we don't let our differences get in the way, we could, eventually, do some real good.

This isn't a recruitment platform. If you want to discuss political issues, do so. If not, don't bother posting.
