It seems this was a very unfortunate accident. I do agree that all Gardai that are going to be driving marked and unmarked cars should have to complete a driving course but it does seem that this was down to some silly kids attempting to cross a dual-carriageway at a point where there are no traffic lights. :(

Well hopefully a lot of fuss will be raised over the lack of trained drivers in the Gardai in the Dail by some Politician who is paying attention and let some postive action be the result of this horrible accident.

Hopefully they will insist that driver training be included in the Student/Probationer training in Templemore and ccreate havoc that it is not already a part of it. Whats the problem in just training more instructors!? its such a massive issue!

Okay, I didn't see it happen but as far as I know it was the Volkswagen car that killed the child. That means the kid ran across two lanes of traffic before being hit which suggest the driver wasn't paying attention to the road in front of him.

kyub, the child did cross the dual carriageway at the lights, it's just they weren't green.

Hearsay and conjecture. Show a bit of respect for both parties, and don't speculate.

I am not bitter at all. I have never been in trouble so what I am saying is a point that I believe to be true. Yes you must excuse me as a weird Garda watcher. I do be sitting up in a tree near different junctions everyday. I'll be watching out for you now.

As for the speeding emergencey vehicle, you made a point that they shouldn't have to stop, going through red lights. Clearly visible up ahead at a junction I can clearly see, fine, all I'm saying is that for a car to come off a minor junction without stopping, in Dublin would almost certainly lead to a collision even as much as I AM aware of my surroundings.

Well there you have it, Jay is just a weirdo!

    Jay,
Your on the back foot now. First you condemn us and use the fact that we slow down at lights to prove were just messing about but now your admitting that we need to in order to avoid a collision.

Im finished with you, why dont you go brag to some 'poofs' about how hard your area is and how you would kick women without conscience while rallying your souped up Micra

See you're trying to twist what I say. I said that they would come to a COMPLETE stop at the lights and finished with their burst.

As for my area, it's a very nice area thank you very much but it just goes to show the mentality of members of the force as we can clearly see here. Just because you have possibly kicked a few women during work, while someone else is driving (cause to be totally honest I would find it very hard to do these two things at the same time) doesn't mean that me as a 'civilian' would have the same frame of mind as you and your cronies.

and another thing, hasn't such a direct attack on posters resulted in bans already on here?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,081 ✭✭✭BKtje

if you have a problem with his post then report it.

As another poster said earlier, i can't believe how quickly people made up their minds one way or another without a shred of evidence. It's also very evident that some people have an agenda against the Gardaí.

This was a tragic accident which would never have gotten this many replies had it been some random person.

reported anyway, and like you say, how quick people are to make their mind up one way or the other.

You couldn't just report it, eh?

Jay D, Karlitosway1978: Attack the post and not the poster. Any more crap from either of you, and it's a ban.

edit: Jay D: edit your posts rather than creating a new post each time.

To me you are demonstrating serious misgiving about the Gardai but you still haven't told us why. I am not naive enough to believe that all Gardai are saints and it is the bad ones that people concentrate on bring the rest of the Gardai who do a great job down. You don't need to be stereotype the rest of us.

Your post above about Karilitosway possibly kicking women is totally out of order and is demeaning to a person you know nothing about.

I think an apology is needed.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,357 ✭✭✭Eru

Everything I said about Jay D was taken directly from his own posts which can be found by looking up his recent posts in other areas.

Sorry if I brought the board into disrepute, I just thought a taste of his own medicine ie insults, would do him good as he has pretty much just slandered and attacked Gardai for the whole thread.

Besides that I dont intend to continue the banter with him, I have said all I wanted about this accident.

Hang on a second here, I don't know where everyone is getting off saying I have bad mouthed them as a whole. I was highlighting the things I have seen and I appreciate that most do do a good job, maybe yourself included but I still find it frustrating how people are so quick to make up their mind and see no wrong ever.

    as for stereo type....

You have suggested I apologise to someone who made a ridiculous accusation against me, who knows absolutely nothing about me. I suggest you get a grip. I have not made any definite judgement on him where as he made a ridiculously stupid remark which I would certainly not be expecting from someone with any sort of sense.

As for his recent additional idiotic excuse to save any sort of respect, it's just laughable because when an intelligent arguement is put to him he simply talks ****e, as has been evident.
I have not once made any slanderous comment on this subject, check if you want.

So Jay what your saying is that you never called another user a 'poof' (changed to wimp now I see)? Never refered to kicking a woman and standing on her neck? Or pushing someone under a bus to kill them?

As for Gardai, you have refered to us as Scumbags, murderers and pigs. Every thread about Gardai you jump in making accusations and insulting us. Compare that to 1 post I made and you want me banned for quoting your own comments?????

You have also admitted on boards to mugging people, fighting, arson and scoring drugs in the hard area you grew up where 'poofs' (sorry now 'wimps') would get beaten up for no reason. In fact you admitted that you were a scumbag, you word not mine.

These are all posts YOU have made. In fact a lot of your posts contain curses, foul language, insults and false accusations. No wonder other users have refered to you as a scumbag and knacker.

You stopped short of saying it was true but near enough to give someone a bad impression of Karlitosway. This I find out of order

Well on this topic we cannot determine if there was a wrong on the part of the Gardai 'cos it is too early to tell. This incident should be treated as an accident until we have proof that says otherwise.

However you have hijacked this thread to blame the guards with the odd poster jumping in to give their own one sided experiences. People think they know what is going on in their town but in reality they don't know the half of it. You just don't realise what goes on around you.

With reference to the posters who were discussing the Irishness or otherwise of Garda Ombudsman Investigators:

A friend of a friend is a (Irish) Military Policeman in the (Irish) Defence Forces. He applied for an was offered a position as an Investigator.
(He ended up not accepting, but that's neither here nor there)

Was there any particular reason why he/she didn't take the job?
