    Hi there everyone,

A historical association I am involved with has been developing a project to photograph and describe the remains of old buildings through out the island of Ireland.

Initially the idea was to only cover the counties in Ulster and we had applied to a cross border govt body for funding to help build the project. After almost a year of back and forth we have finally been given a definitive answer of no. We can't afford to waste anymore time chasing funding anymore so that should have been it.

    But...

Since we had already put a bit of effort into collecting a few images and we didn't want to waste what we had, we decided to get a friendly web person to throw together a workable website (which he embedded into our site) to display the material we collected.

We had hoped to be able to hire a designer to make the whole thing a bit more easy on the eye but as it is we've had to do it on the cheap. Also, since we now lack the funding to be able collect more material only parts of Antrim and Down are covered so far. We have lists of buildings we wanted to add and there should be at least 50 in each county.

This is where we throw it out to the online historical world. Our wee group can't now afford the travel round taking the photographs or contacting local history groups to get site information so we are encouraging anyone who is interested in this type of thing to get involved.

If anyone has photographs (we can scan old style photos) or descriptions or stories related to locations throughout Ireland we will be happy to add them to our site. If not then at least the limited amount we have collected is there for someone to hopefully find interesting.

    Cheers!
