Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I don't care who gets to the final as long as Cardiff are beaten. Peter Ridsdale would be even more unbearable than he already is.

    Arse Pompy!

There goes the Baggies chances of lifting the FA Cup.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,641 ✭✭✭kev_s88

i dont know about that.Pompy werent the best against United and it was only a few dodgy ref decisions and heroic last gasp defending that kept them in the game.

with the way Brom dismantled Bristol it wouldnt surprise me to see them win.i hope they do anyways cause nothing would do me a greater pleasure than to see the smile wiped off Harry Rednapp's fat strawberry face

    i still say Barnsley ftw

Barnsley have a great chance at making the final anyway which is fantastic considering their double giant killing exploits.

The West Brom V Pompy game should be a good'un.

Hahahah, +1. My words after 15mins of that match yesterday!

I hope either Portsmouth or WBA win it. Nothing against Barnsley, much against Cardiff though. Dont want to see them in Europe.

I'd like to see Barnsley vs. Portsmouth in the final. I think Barnsley have earned the right to get to the FA Cup final.

    good draw!
im happy barnsley have a good chance of getting to the final...they deserve it as they have had a tough few rounds!

    who knows!

its good for the FA cup that the big 4 arent there and also gives the potential of European football to a non PL team!

If Cardiff win the whole thing, who gets the Uefa cup place? They can't play in Europe can they?

    Why not?

EDIT: Monaco represent the French league

anyone know who's the best odds for barnsley to win it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,168 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Because they're a Welsh team playing in the English leagues. I thought Uefa had a rule against teams like that from representing their league in Europe

Here is an article regarding Cardiff playing in the UEFA

    Link
The FAW recently proposed that Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham, who could all compete in Europe through winning the Premiership, FA Cup or League Cup, should also be allowed to qualify for Europe by winning the Welsh Cup.

Cardiff - Brom final, Brom to win. Bet on it! or rather don't! :p

    Mike.

Cardiff or Barnsley winning it would be nice. Cardiff cause of Jimmy Floyd, Robbie and Tricky Trev Sinclair, and Barnsley just to complete the fairytale.

Once Pompey and 'arry don't win it I'm happy.

Barnsley in Europe would be interesting alright. Do winners go straight into the main draw? First round tie against Valencia, say. :D

    Mike.

Coefficients are used to determine what stage sides join at, as none of the four sides have played in Europe in the last number of years they would all start the season with their countries coefficient only, which should see them in the 1st round proper (knockout before the group stages)

    Mike.

the way Valencia are playing at the moment id favour any of the semi-finalists to beat them in the UEFA :D

You must have missed my edit. The fact that Monaco can represent the French league - does it have any relevance?

Since both Monaco and Wales are pricipalities, there should be no difference.

The Monegasque Football Federation isn't recognised by Fifa or Uefa, which means that AS Monaco can represent the FFF in Europe. The WFA, however, is recognised and that's what would stop Cardiff representing the English FA in Europe.

Could well do, their coefficient will be their club coefficent (0 :D) plus 1/3 of their country coefficient (currently 71.874 and can only rise with 7 teams still in European competition)...that puts any of the FA Cup winners at just under 24.

24 would have put them at 35th in last year's 1st round draw, therefroe seeded.

All depends on who qualifies for this years competition I suppose, and who drops down from the CL 3rd qualifying round.

Barnsley or Cardiff to win it I hope, because it would complete the dream if Barnsley win it. And imagine if a welsh team won the FA Cup, it'd be great! It would just piss aload of the English off too!

Cardiff already have won it, in 1927.

I know, but I wasn't alive to see all the pissed off English men! :D

    Cardiff City to win...
When was the last Welsh FA cup win? I know Cardiff won in 1927, but I thought Swansea won after that?

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47,339 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

Nope, Cardiff are the only non-English winners. Really don't want to see them do it again so I'll be rooting for Barnsley.
