removing old chimney

    Could you help me? We have an old cottage there is an huge old unlined brick chimney in it. It takes up 9ft x3ft in one room and large corner in another.Would it be expensive to remove it and rebuild a new single flue one. We live in Longford.

    That's a fairly big structural job imo. Get onto an engineer for professional advice before you go near a builder.

    I think that the OP is more concerned with the amount of potential floor-space that may be available if the chimney breast was removed.
