    Can anyone tell me what the deal is with this site.
    I heard it does legal mp3 downloads supported by ads or something.
    It's down at the moment though...

    Completely free with revenue generated through advertising. Was announced at Cannes but on the day of launch, the big 4 labels said that they had not officially agreed so site is down - they are stating that it is because of demand....

    If you download and register the player you are supposed to get an e-mail when it goes live. Could take some time though!

    A shame really, apparently deals had been reached with 2 of the studios but the timeframe of the agreements ran out before the site was launched so they were no longer valid...
    Oh well!

    At the moment play.com are doing DRM free downloads that are cheaper than iTunes for the most part...
