Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ill go out on a limb here and face a slagging on here for a long time. We will do an Arsenal on it and absolutely hammer Inter tonight.

    That's some call!

You really think it could be anywhere near a 5 -1 away win when Liverpool already have a 2 goal cushion, with no away goals conceeded?

I think we'll get the first goal and Inter will fall apart and most likely have a player sent off. Torres, Gerrard and Babel will annihilate them on the counter just like Henry and Co did a few years ago.

Not gonna guess a result as I have no idea how it will turn out. What I do know is that Liverpool have won their last five scoring 15 goals and conceding 3 so hopefully they can take this form into the game at the San Siro.

Inter will be on the attack but I think Liverpool will try and surprise them by starting off the game at a high tempo and trying to nick a goal. If Liverpool score its pretty much game over as we haven't conceded four goals at all this season...or last season even (I think).

I dont think people should underestimate Inter though. We made them look very ordinary at Anfield but they are a great team.

One thing that has surprised me though is their star player Ibrahimovic. He has scored 20 goals in all comps but 8 have been from penos...! Thats only 12 goals from open play, two more than Benayon. Hardly prolific.

It must be said that scoring in Serie A (even against the more lowly teams) is much harder than in the premiership imo.

I cannot bear the thought of 4 english teams in the quarters and believe that Inter have a great chance of scoring at least 2 if not more. Although with a rejigged back four Inter may be more vulnerable than usual. Inter are a little bit like united for scoring late goals in the last few seasons.

Anyway, may the best Italian team win.

Dunphy not letting anyone down so far.

Dunphy sayign his opinion hasnt changed and that if you take away the contribution of Torres and Gerrard we would be 13th. Where would Utd and Arsenal be without Ronaldo and Adebyour? Would Chelsea have won the league without Lampard?

Does anyone the dimensions of the Anfield pitch? Both Highbury and Anfield look(ed) really narrow with not much room for continental teams to pass. Compare to Camp Nou, San Siro, etc. Inter have no problems scoring goals and recently have a knack of getting late goals. Inter fa sognare un juventino!

13th isn't bad considering we'd have 9 men, no striker and captain.

RTE coverage never lets you down :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

I know giving out about Zonal markign is against the law and all but Kuyt headed that cross clear and the was 4 Inter players around him with the nearest Liverpool player 5 or 6 yards away. WTF?

Inters web site has been hacked a few days ago. For a few hours, there's been a big title : Vratislav Gresko announced as Inter all time favorite player. :D

Ray 'Hindsight' Houghton really is the oracle of commentators, should have shot when he passed, and passed when he shot. Amazing.

Would be 1-1 if the strikers got their heads up and picked out a pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

Did Micon actually think Babel was going to try cross that with his right? :D Obviously didnt watch any videos.

Precision aiming from Kuyt. :D Defender is lucky it wasnt a Riie shot. He'd have been castrated.

Kuyt lol. Special needs striking. What's the Inter defence at?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,263 ✭✭✭yom 1

kuyt should have done better there.

Pool creating all their own problems. Noone looking to control the ball

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,987 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

Mancini always look for a card :)

Bit of a crap game so far, Rafas teamtalk must have been short, basically hoof the ball up front at every chance.

Lucas is a passenger so far.

In fairness, if you look when he takes the shot theres very little on, Couple of Liverpool players in the box but behind Inter players. Gerrard/Torres would have done the same (especially Gerrard, but he'd have killed the guy with the shot :))

He has been for most of the games he's played for us so far.

Torres is trying too hard to beat the whole team.

sorry didnt mean to sound like houghton:eek::D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,987 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

Yeah, I don't think Lucas is anywhere near ready for this level of game.

Gerrard back to the centre and bring out someone like Benayoun/Pennant/Crouch for either AM/RW/ST

If Kuyt was David Villa this tie would be well over. =P

He's here somewhere tho. Kuyt does something right and theres silence, but as soon as he gives it away when tryign to creat something, its a **** ball and Kuyt isnt tracking back.

Poor game so far alright. I think Lucas is doing alright though. He's having a quiet game but he's getting the challenges in and keeping the ball moving.

Torres is kinda by himself up there. Gerrard is nowhere, up front or back defending.

If Torres was a winger he'd have squared the one he hit to the keeper and it might well be over to . Lots of if's

If Reina was Robinson it'd be over aswell, but not in the good way.

Almost a manc type pox goal there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,357 ✭✭✭emc2

    great save....

Inter have no natural wide players which is really helping liverpool.
