Apologies, I'm home now and picture-less.

On a brighter note as I was entering my apartment complex some bird was on her way out. Hadn't seen her before but I'm glad I have now. Absolutely massive set of fun bags on her so a note has been frimly made to self for bikini season beside the pool.

Hey Xavi, I just realised that a guy I know lives out in Perth. Do you play football there by any chance? This guy played football in Sydney with me and then moved out West. Just wondering what the football scene is like out there? Are there many leagues in the Perth region? I'd imagine he's playing with someone out there.

    Cheers

Yea i think if I was going to NZ for the winter I would be hitting Queenstown so at least you can snowboard.
Wellington and Christchurch are lovely cities but i don't know if I could stay there through the terrible winter they get. It'd be too much like Ireland for my liking!!;)

ChCh is a great town, winter or summer.

I didn't like Queesntown at all.

Thats mad. I thought everyone loved Queenstown!! Aww I suppose sometimes one little ****ty thing can happen to you in a place and then you end up hating it. I loved most of NZ, no real let downs.

I stayed in the best hostel in Queenstown i reckon. It had the best view ever. Heres a picture but it dosn't show the half of it.
BTW i have never posted a pic before so it probabl;y wont work.

I knew you were a toff.

Pints are much more economical, like a 330cl Longneck is more expensive than a 568cl Pint.

Also, 'Ken, as you no doubt call it, is the devil's piss.

Absoluty not, heineken is one of the nicest beers out imo. Alot less gas in bottles than a can too. Bottles ftw! :) But id only ever drink bottles at a party, would be pints all the way in the pub.

oh Des, you think you know me but you have no idea my bearded friend

i've always drank Bulmers, but due to a few too many serious sessions over the years, i have decided that beer in the way to go, while away recently i was drink local beers mainly but since i've been back i've been partial to either erdinger or heineken (pints or long neck bottles)....went to the cinema last night after work with a friend, afterwards went for a couple of drinks, long neck Heineken was my tipple of choice, and i really liked it :) no head this morning, no drunkness and making a fool of myself, and no dodgy cider stomach to worry about :)

i was just trying to gauge an opinion as to whether or not blokes drinking long neck heineken was a tad or the ghey side or not :)

    Perfectly acceptable BBQ etiquette.
Don't like to see it in a pub however, especially if there is perfectly good beer on tap to be had.
Night clubs are another place where bottles are acceptable.

I do yeah. I play in the WA State Amateur League. There's a load of leagues between amateur and semi-pro.

Standard is fairly decent. I'd say half of the team's in my league get paid a small amount every week, maybe $50 or so. The Saturday sides would get paid a couple of hundred but the standard isn't much different between the better Sunday teams (us) and the middle to low Saturday sides.

You can get some good crowds too as a lot of the teams are based in ethnic communities. We had about 600 at our cup final last year.

What pub did you go to?

Did they have Heineken on tap?

There are plenty of delicious beers available in pubs all over Dublin now.

    Tyskie for one.

330cl bottles in pubs just never made any sense to me...small, yet so expensive. Usually if in a club (clubs are rubbish in cork so its usually a late bar and thus, more pints) just end up having whiskey.

Good stuff. sounds like there's a decent setup in Perth for football. I remember meeting a guy there who said the interest in Soccer and Union is high in Perth cause there were a lot of Irish / British settled there in the last 50-60 years.

In Sydney there was a fairly good Semi-Pro league, with a few guys signing up for CCM's after decent seasons.
The amateur league was split into districts, with the Eastern Suburbs league being the highest standard due to the number of Irish, English, Scots, Swedes, Germans who gravitate towards Bondi, Coogee etc.
Decent enough standard of football but no money being handed out.

Biggest crowd wasn't quite 600. More like about 20 for the last game of the season cause there was a BBQ and beer on the sideline!!

The Coogee Bay Hotel is bloody famous.

Where did you live? Parramatta or some other shíthole?

Didn't really like Bondi. Didn't drink there, except the Royle on Bondi Rd from time to time.

Lived in Bellvue Hill. Between Bondi and Rose Bay. Have to say it was an excellent place to live and was more upmarket than your usual backpacker flat. My missus is picky about where she lives. Obviously not so picky about who she lives with..:D

I just didn't love Coogee. It was ok but just didn't think it was all it cracked up to be.
Coogee Bay Hotel was ok, spent more time drinking in Double Bay (Golden Sheath, best football pub in Sydney), Kings Cross & the city.

    I know it well.

24hrs bar beside the train station.

Actually watched a bit of the WC2006 tournament in there when i was on the way to work in the mornings.
Nothing like a beer at 6.15am to get the heart started for the day.

You are the 4th Irish person who has said to me that they were on the news (Channel 7, 9 or 10). The others were more crime related (murder, armed robbery etc), yours is lighthearted entertainment.
Did they send out the vid to you afterwards??
Think you have to request them to do it.

Well our address wasn't Coogee, but we were close. Just on the corner of Carrington Road and Clovelly Road technically Randwick. Bout four months. If I had a choice of anywhere to move to in the world it would be between Coogee and St.Kilda.

I lived on the first turn left up from the beach, after the CBH, one minute from beer, two minutes from the beach. Perfect.

The apartment was a dive though.

Vicar Street it was called. Sept '05 to Feb'06.

    Good times.

    When were you there?
