Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Speaking of Metal, here is a classic piece of film.

    In ancient times...
Hundreds of years before the dawn of history
Lived a strange race of people... the Druids

    Erm.

It wasn't a bad night, but the BGRH Beers are a hundred times better tbh.

The room we had was sweaty and warm.

Spinal tap, man i must watch that tomorrow night, cos im going to see the national tonight. Kinda not really prepared for it, hoping I enjoy it, but I dont really know their songs, and I'm on way too much of a heavy metal bender lately, listening to alot of sabbath, pantera and down that I'm really not in the mood for a moody indie gig.

Just was on Ozzys Wiki page, and noticed a link to this
How sad is that? Stars dont get much bigger than Jasper Carrott and Murray Walker!

so who was at Neilo last night?

i work at most of the big gigs in Dublin for the last three years and that was the loudest concert i have ever been at in my life.

    my ears are still ringing

    Controversial.

It's one of the best covers out there, along with Brian Ferry's Jealous Guy.

But, while Ferry made Jealous Guy his own, The Pixies still own Where Is My Mind.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Pixies fan, but the Placebo version just sounds more 'perfect' for me.

I honestly dont think my defending John Lennon is part of my "I Love Liverpool" obsession, he dosnt need much defending.

*oh and Xavi, i dont think your sig is very fair on aul Christy, they arent lyrics after all.

Indeed they aren't. However they are an absolute sham of a band so I'll take any opportunity to have a little dig.

U do defend all things from that city in fairness!! ;)

Ill give Lennon one thing right now, his Christmas songs owns McCartneys!

They arent lyrics, but theyre not exactly good use of the English language either! that was on in the pub yesterday before we went up to Croker, great song!

    Aslan.

    Murdered Wish You Were Here.

I'm not even a huge Pink Floyd fan, but my jesus, Aslan raped that song.

    Unforgivable.

And what's more, skangers everywhere now think it's a bleedin' Alsan song ffs.

McCartneys one is dreadful. it makes "Barbie Girl" look un-cheesy.

Lennons one is teh awesome! War is over!!

Its funny, when he talks u shudder at how skangery he is but when he sings u dont hear it as much!

Suppose, that wasnt in the original song so dig away!!

EDIT: I think you'd represent his skangerness by spelling "Roight" as "Reeh" as "Roight" is bordering into Ross O'Carroll Kelly "Roysh" territory!

    Oh my.

so much wrong with the last few posts.

First off, i love Macca, but Lennon owns him in every way possible.

Second off, I'm not an Aslan fan but they have a few cracking songs, "This Time" for example is an excellent song. and Christy has an excellent voice.

As for "Wish You Were Here", i'm not a fan of it either, but Roger Waters and Gilmour love their version so they must be doing something right.

and as for his use of the English language Xavi? come on, his lyrics are decent. McGowan can barely ****ing speak, doesnt stop his lyrics being amazing though.

See, I don't find it annoying.

I DO find Lennon's whiney bitch of a voice insanely annoying though.

He can keep his hippy-dippy flower power crap, as far as I'm concerned.
    :eek::eek:

Aye, while I appreciate what Lennon and co. did for music I simply don't subscribe to his songs...

Im sure the dithering ould ones thought, oh thats a lovely song, every time it came on, but no amount of emerald sweets made that visit enjoyable!!!
