    Wash the wheels for a start. You need to put the effort in to present the car in the best light possible. Didn't you respray that?

    Get it tested a 2 year test will make it easier to sell and a lot of the pictures seem the same, add a picture of the boot and another interior picture. Does it come with 2 keys? If so thats another plus

    First off clean the inside of the car out and take a few better photos. You might also want to remove the photo with Dolly in it as you can see from the responses on adverts nobody is asking about your car. :p

    Also no NCT is a big disadvantage when trying to sell a car, too many unknowns for a potential buyer. It sends out a statement that the seller knows it will not pass. Send it through and even if it fails you have the fail sheet to show a buyer so they know up front what needs doing.

    If you are willing to take €2500 for it then lower the selling price to under €3k ono. People expect it to be priced a little above what you want for it but will not expect get over €500 off the asking price on a €3k car so will not bother enquiring.

    Finally as the car is modified your target audience is probably someone who shares your interest. You should look at advertising it is some modified car sites or magazines.

    Overpriced for a 1.8 petrol, resprayed red, 10 year old Bmw.

    Not very man people are buying petrols anymore, you'd get a similar condition diesel for that.

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/1962149

    That's a ten times better example, and I can assure 3,300-3,400 at least would buy it.

    Lowered yours to 3 grand and put it up on donedeal and see what offers you get. Make sure to say it was resprayed, and also clean it first.

    Cheers for replying....
    Has a valid NCT until next year with report & previous reports. Dropped price & took that pic out. Engine is standard, no mods from factory.

    You might want to amend the advert as it says that there is no NCT in the summary on the right hand side. That will put alot of buyers off straight away and they will not even read the text.

    Taking all the points on board, I've redone the ad on Donedeal as that seems to be the best place to advertise a car at the moment....Have I missed anything??? Thx

    Hi all,

    I am selling my Lexus IS200 as I am one of the lucky ones who now has a company car. I'm interested in your thoughts on the ad and if I am missing anything.

    Thanks for looking.

    * Interior shots?
    * Service history (is it verifiable?)
    * Any outstanding finance, etc.?
    * the photos are fine but IMO, wash the car, put on some (proper) tyre shine and then take some more in this fine weather!

    Price is a bit on the high side for a private sale, here are a few examples of similar cars to yours from dealers who give a warranty that you don't:

    http://www.driving.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=201105201138365
    http://www.driving.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=201102200870450

    In order to tempt a buyer away from the comfort of a warranty on the above you will need to price yours below what a garage would ask for theirs.

    Also I would take better photos, a car park in an industrial estate on a dull day does not give off a feel good factor to a potential buyer. Wash the car, take it a scenic spot of a bright day and take good photos of the exterior and interior. I would also unblock the registration, potential buyers may want to do a history check before making contact with the seller, blocking the reg might give the impression that you are hiding something.

    Last thing, advert says the NCT expires in July, the NCT can be done 3 months in advance of it's due date so you will be able to book it this month. I would it through the NCT asap, a fresh 2 year NCT will only help sell the car. To a buyer a NCT that is about to expire adds alot of uncertainty.

    Here is an example of a IS200, 2 years younger, with less mileage, a fresh NCT from a garage for €500 less than yours. You need to adjust the price and take better photos (not so close to the car). IS200s are hard to shift because they are known for being thirsty, with the NCT on yours expires next month, it will need a fresh NCT to have any chance of selling in the current climate.
