It really is a bummer!!!! Will have to drop it!!

I hate to tell ya OP (because I'm in the same position trying to sell my old BMW), but I could get a very similar car for much less than you are asking.

You may have to drop a lot more than you were thinking!!!!!!!

but then you'd have to pay the VRT...

I'm trying to sell my 318 for the past 4 months, its getting next to impossible. I've cut 6K of the asking to stay below the garages who are cutting the cost too..

Seems buying is a better market to be in at the moment..

@ 05D - how much finance is owed on the car if any? if you sell for 27 say - will that cover the outstanding finance? if not - nobody will buy it!

And looking at the last few pages... nobody wants BMW's any more!

Even taking the VRT into account it would still come in cheaper than the amount 05D is asking for his car.

And the other link is to a similar Irish car for about €7k less than 05D is asking!!!!!

i think VRT is included price on the first one, but not the second.

that first one is very good value.

edited: just read it again and i don't think VRT is included in both

do you not have liability insurance in your company? It's going to take a while to sell it I'd say...

Do want to go through them.

Don't really use the car anymore anyway, have a commercial Jeep that I use more.

I have taken about 25% off my car so far an no budge what so ever.
I feel that if someone looks at it i can sell it but nobody seems to be buying.

Car is also up on Carzone and is cheapest by a mile, not counting all the extras one can get like the hardtop.

Edit my car is in my sig.

Ah well I like to think outside the box. Not nice being sued 05d

OK so now you know its going to have to be the best one and the cheapest price on carzone to sell, same with my wifes EOS early in the year but did i meet some nice hotties viewing it.(might try that again with a girlie car)

When i did get an offer i didn't allow even €5 off yes five euro off the asking price, just printed out the dearer ones and said sure buy them for 2000 dearer if you want when she tried looking for discount.

sounds like you really do need to get rid of it then, so I don't know if you have much choice. :(

I know it's horrible to think of letting your pride and joy go for so little when you value it so highly but trust me, once the deal is done you'll have a great weight off your mind for sure.

good luck mate, we've all been there and I know you have a lot of sympathy here. :)

I have had the jeep advertised for the last 3 weeks and haven't received a single call. I was offered EUR200 from a breakers yard - i know its very very low - but its better than nothing. I wonder should i cut my loses and just take it?

jebus, if you're thinking of giving it to a breakers for 200 euro I'd take it off your hands for that, alternator or not. ;)

do you have it advertised online at all? if you do then post a link and let the guys here take a look and let you know what they think.

you're going to have a job to get rid of it though with the cost of taxing them. I have a 96 2.8L LWB Pajero and it's over €1300 a year just for road tax. :(

I'm just about to start making my own bio-diesel anyway, so that cost (and my carbon footprint) will be offset by the amount I'll save on fuel.

I had a check on carzone.ie anyway and a found a private sale for a 92 LWB for €1400 (most others were dealers and much higher prices) but that's by no means an accurate indicator of the true price you could get for it.

as I said, if you have a link to the advert or more details about mileage and condition etc. the guys here will give you a better idea of what you should be able to get for it and what to include in the advert to get the most attention.

first thing you need to do is to get it as much exposure as possible.

the following websites do free ads for selling your car, so stick it on them asap so as many people see it as possible.

    http://www.cbg.ie/
    http://www.carsireland.ie/
    http://www.funkymotors.ie/

I got the best response from CBG when I sold my own car, but they're all worth a go.

FYI if you get people calling you up (normally from UK numbers, but not always) offering to sell it for you tell them to feck off, they're all scammers and no matter what they tell you they will do their best to part you from your money and you won't get anything back off them for it. there's threads on here about them and also most of the sites and car mags have warnings about them too.

I also tried a paid ad on carzone.ie as well but I got less response from that than I did from cbg, so you're probably better off there.

    Howdy all.

It's hard to get a handle on prices with the way things are going at the moment.

Basically, I'm looking to shift Dad's 2002 1.6 Baseline Passat.

It's got 65k miles, very clean, timing belt done, NCT'd to 2010, genuine VW Sat Nav, CD changer and decent tyres.

So before I lash it up on Adverts, I was thinking around €8k-ish. What do you guys think?

Private I'd probably go €7.5k ONO to shift it before it drops any further in value.

I think you're miles out. If it was a tidy 03 or a rough 04 maybe. I can't see an 02 baseline petrol getting near €8k.

EDIT, (I can't see an 02 baseline petrol getting near €8k.)

    Its an 02.

I would expect 6 to 6.5 in todays market.

yup, I'm thinking 6 as well

Thanks lads. The evaluation of used yokes is not really my forte so I do appreciate your opinions.

I'm gonna have to try sell it privately because on a trade in he'll end up worse off.
