Mr Hayes said he had letters from four companies in his constituency who were going to relocate a total of 150 jobs in coming months if local access to broadband isn’t established.

    and the response?
Seamus Brennan .. said legislation was published last year which dealt with some issues Mr Hayes raised.

Would he like to enlighten us as to what that legislation is and how it will benefit those people in Tipp and other parts of the country?
Or maybe someone here knows what Seamus Brennan is referring to?

... according to figures published by the CSO today.

The statistics agency says 31% of homes had a broadband connection in the first quarter of last year, compared to just 13% in the first quarter of 2006.

Any breakdown on how many Satellite, Mobile, Clearwire and Ripwave?

    See

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055266004

    Approx 200k is 13%.

The Mobile Internet is I belive at least 100k subscribers.. thusly this is about 7%

    So that would be 31 - 7 = 24%.

I'd suspect our real Broadband penetration is under 17%. Anyone analysed the real figures.

I've put my earplugs in so Sponge Bob can shout now.
