    ..where is it?

    My brother has bought an 99 323i , but for paperwork, we need to find the engine number.

    Can someone tell me where on the engine it is, or even better - post a pic?

    No, they don't, and it's they who want to see it.

    Thats for a N42 318i engine. Its not the same as the M52.
    I can't recall where it is on the M52 - I'll check mine later.
