The chance has to be pretty good to be honest. I doubt it will be for keeps though. More then likely a loan product.

I'm not really a 3dmark whore to be honest so have no idea what it would have got. Currently building a new system. Should be done by end of month.

afaik you need a dual skin container. Or your hand will just freeze to it upon touch.

yup, i remember dealing (messing) with this **** when i was in DCU like 5-6 years back.. good times :D

Freezing all sorts of stuff. But even with the safety gloves on, we could still feel the cold!

    interesting anyway.. hmm..

Surely anyone with enough money can quite easily crack 22k?

I mean if I had the cash I could just order all the bits and beat it?..

Not without serious overclocking, beyond normal methods, like dry ice and liquid nitrogen

well skulltrail 2x3870x2's 2xQx9750's some ddr3 1800mhz and some sdd's in raid oughta do it :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,930 ✭✭✭✭challengemaster

tbh you'd want to be using solid state drives for this if using ln2, the stuff evaporates way fast. you'd prolly get 10 mins out of the 20-30L - get everything booted as quick as possible :)

Guys i have done 26k in 3d06 6 months ago. 22k is not difficult. Our target must be 30k.
    We just need 2 3870x2 and ddr3 memories with a x38 or x48 mobo.
My 9650 can do 5,5ghz on cascade for 3d06.

That does sound wrong, even the GMA900/950 can pull a muscular 200-ish. :D

  • Subscribers Posts: 6,408 ✭✭✭conzy

    ahahahaha :D

This makes me want to run 3dMark on every **** PC I can get my hands on!

omg i propose a competition! Lets see who can get the lowest 3dMark score! :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,357 ✭✭✭papu

lol thats easy , dont install drivers for the gpu and install vista on a 256mb pc :D with an old pII XD

  • Subscribers Posts: 6,408 ✭✭✭conzy

Nope, its a fine art, You have to get a machine that will actually run it.... Just run it terribly :D

Im gonna start with a 2.4ghz P4 512mb ram FX5200 and run 3dMark from a USB stick, then work my way down.... I predict 350 points

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,357 ✭✭✭papu

    65holycrapfa8.jpg
    a 2500+ and a fx5200

not mine but lol that sucks

the slowest card you can run it with is the fx5200
so it has to be Dx9 anyway :D

  • Subscribers Posts: 6,408 ✭✭✭conzy

    Papu thats an awesome score!

But this is gonna be tough to beat :D

    3dmlololollk7.jpg

    39!!

    THIRTY NINE WTF :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,401 ✭✭✭✭Anti

gonna run it on a asua eee now. I predict under 30 points :D

  • Subscribers Posts: 6,408 ✭✭✭conzy

    :D

I think you will win, i'm going to underclock the FX5200 as far as it will go and run a defrag in the background!

*edit* it seems it has the default windows driver for a FX5200 so I can't underclock it :(

Nah you won't 'top' 39 by Conzy, the GMA900 is far better then the Fx5200 in 3dmark!

Is the 9200 dx9 or dx8....I have an old 9200le here. about 20% slower then an fx5200.

edit: damn, dx8. Now, if someone could get the 64-bit, 64mb PCI version of the fx5200...:D

ive an old voodoo 2 card at home! might see if i can get it to run on my intel p2 when i get home.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

06 won't run on that though, the card has to support sm2, the Voodoo predates that somewhat....

What I'd love to see, is 3dmark actually running on a machine that musters up 39 points. How long did it take to complete?

  • Subscribers Posts: 6,408 ✭✭✭conzy

    3dmlololololsi3.jpg

    Pro at underclocking?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

Right, how long did that take - 2 hours??

  • Subscribers Posts: 6,408 ✭✭✭conzy

    40 minutes :D

The core was underclocked from 250mhz to 50, memory from 300mhz to 100mhz, Forced Vsync and 4AA :D

I think I can get below 10 if I can clock the card a bit lower, but if it goes much lower it will choke I think

Right lets see who can get 1 point!

    Ah, that's cheating - 1280x1024 no AA/V-Sync :D:D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,401 ✭✭✭✭Anti

the eee refused to run it :( it just skipped all tests

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

I can prob run it on a northword 2.4 Celeron and an fx5200 in a week or so...

Conzy what if you reduce it to about 40/90, run with v-sync and aa, but at a really high resolution? And if you have an older processor..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 397 ✭✭Design_Dude

Hi, would your power supply affect the performance much, as im using an old 200watt PSU that i wired the 4pin P4 connector into myself!?
