Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ok so got around to listening to Death, the last two albums are amazing......My question is, what other bands are out there that sound similar to this?

Chuck Schuldiner formed Control Denied after Death. They're pretty good, not really as heavy as Death though.

Check out Cynic...they sound a bit like Death....except with a more jazzy influence.

Heartwork by Carcass would be similiar enough to Death. Maybe give pandora a try?

I'm quite a massive Death fan, as you may have guessed, all the albums are brilliant but Control Denied is pretty crap. Confused power metal with terrible vocals and leftover Death riffs. If you want stuff like the last few albums you gotta get some Atheist. Piece of Time and Unquestionable Presence are fantastic, technical jazzy death.

What he said. I picked up Human and Unquestionable Presence on the same, momentous day, back in the day, they're landmark releases when it comes to intelligent death Metal.

Also pick up Disincarnate - Dreams Of The Carrion Kind which was the work of former Death guitarist James Murphy. On the subject of Murphy, pick up Obituary - Cause Of Death which is a superb blend of ultra heavy riffs with stellar lead work. Pestilence - Testimony Of The Ancients and Spheres are worth a listen too.

D'oh! I hadn't actually used it in over a year, and was too drunk to check it before I posted.
