Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What are MIcrosoft using as date of warranty

    Folks,

An odd question. My 360 died this week and is getting repaired under warranty for the second time. The date of purchase was Nov 06 so I think my warranty is until Nov 09 for RROD. But, the build date on the console is 05. When I called about repair, they asked for the serial number which is linked to the build date.

My question, I registered the console in Nov 06, Does my warranty from MS begin at that date or is it from the build date on the console which is mid 05.

It is unlikely anyone has a system out of warranty for RROD yet as they came out in 05 so anybody got a definitive answer.

Date from when you registered it.

Wouldnt that make the warrenty date Nov 08 because the 360 was released in Nov 05 ?

Thats what I was thinking. I did not buy the machine until Nov06 but how were they to know when I bought it. As far as they are concerned it was made in 05 and warranty is out in 08.

Before anyone jumps on me, let me explain. What if I bought it in 05, it lasted by some miracle until last week and then I registered it. That includes the scenario of it never been online. Then my warranty would be 3 years from last week.

Back to the question then : Are they using the serial numbers (which contain the build date) or the date of registration as the date of start of warranty.

They use the serial number by default, unless you have a reciept to prove when you bought your console. If the serial number says its out of warranty you can send them a scan of your reciept as proof of when you bought it(this is what happened to me when my disc drive broke recently). It doesn't matter when you register your console, I only registered mine the day after it broke.

    Thanks for that.

I will take that as the definitive answer.

    Now to find that receipt......
