Buying an acre or so of land

I'm looking to buy an acre or so of land for growing veg, raising chickens etc for my family - remember the good life! - in Wicklow. Anyway, I was wondering what the best way to go about this might be - land generally doesn't appear to be sold in such small parcels except for development purposes and I definetely only want a zoned farming patch.

I would imagine you will find it extremely hard to purchase one acre of land without having a (even potential) development premium built in to the price.

Leasing or renting may be the way to go, a few calls to local auctioneers is probably your best bet.
