Have been writing music for a while now and have compiled a relatively large database of Guitar Pro files on which I've written my songs. Anyhow, I'm completely new to music production and was just hgoping the fine people here could possibly take me under their wing and teach me the tools of the trade.

Really just need advice on what hardware/software I should procure which can really give my music that ambient sheen I hear on recent records( eg. Get Cape,Wear Cape, Fly etc.) My music is mainly comprised of acoustic guitar, piano, vocals and drum tracks but I've recently dabbled with synths ( to get some strings and brass sounds basically.) Anyone got advice on what electricals I should get. I've heard about Mac Pro's and Pro Tools and countless other things, but as of yet, I'm oblivious to it all!

    Cheers! ;)

PS. Probably should include that I received Ableton G Live Version 5. ANyone know what I can do with this?
