    Hi there,

We sowed a new lawn last year but cows broke into garden and damaged ground leaving loads of patches all over the place.

Can we re-sow those areas now or is it still too early?

    Regards,

    D

Bíonn gach duine go lách go dtéann bó ina gharraí. (Everybody is good natured until a cow goes into his garden.) ;) Dummy, a chara.

Even though it is possible to germinate grass seed almost year-round in Ireland, the best time to sow grass seed is between early April to late September.

You'd usually be ok to sow seed from St Patrick's day onwards, but this year soil temperatures are exceptionally low. Lower in fact than they were in December.

Give it another couple of weeks until things warm up (soon -hopefully)

Thank you both very much. I guess I'll hold off another couple of weeks.

Irish Gardener - Tá sé sin ceart. Ach sa bhaile deirtear, "Fear na mbó fein faoina heireabaill". Ach ni raibh sé ann an lá sin. Ach freisin, ni raibh aon geatai os comhair ár theach an lá amhain céanna. Bhi siad sa ceardlann !! An mi-ádh !!!

    Rinne sin mo shuile dom.

    Buiochas.
