McManus to part-fund grant scheme

The multi-millionaire businessman and tax exile, JP McManus, is to support a new grant scheme aimed at helping Leaving Certificate students from disadvantaged areas get into third level education.

The scheme, which will assist 120 students each year, was announced by the Minister for Education, Mary Hanafin.

Mr McManus has contributed €24m to fund 100 of the scholarships annually.
