3G Speed (O2)

Sorry if this has been asked before (I did try a search). I got a 3G sim card from O2 today and when I tested the speed on my PC (using http://www.speedtest.net/), I got around 400k. (That's what the Sony software said too.) I have a Sony Ericsson W960i which does support 3G. Just wondering if this is normal. I had expected that it would be same as what you would get with their mobile broadband (i.e. 3.6M).

OK. After a bit more browsing I've found that the w960 supports UMTS, but not HSDPA. Also, apparently UMTS (at the moment?) only allows for rates upto 384Kbps.

So, can anyone confirm that this is actually the case with O2? Also, is it likely that UMTS support is going to be improved (i.e. will it get faster) and will existing handsets support any speed improvements?

You're not going to get a faster speed than your handset supports.
You're not going to get a faster speed than the network supports.

O2 support HSDPA and I've successfully used >1Mbps speeds on their Broadband Service.

Not a clue re UMTS getting faster, I was under the impression that 384Kbps was the limit though ...
