hi i just ended my sky contract, so sky dish is still there, but im looking to get astra 19.2, im in louth. just wondering if i can pick up astra 19.2 with the sky dish, is it just a matter of moving the dish over and back to pick up the correct satellite or do i have to change the inclination of the dish as well any help thanks

yeah just move your dish a few inches to the right and tilt it back slightly...basically play around till you get the strongest signal.

Works fine for me in Dublin, seems large enough for al the free channels. Before moving the dish, identify some point on the horizon (tree chimney etc) that the dish is currently pointing towards and use this as a starting point. It is easy to lose your bearing when perched up a ladder and trying not to fall off while simultaneously moving the dish.
If you pick up hotbird then you have moved too far. Hotbird is possible with a skydish in Dublin but not quite big enough to get some of the weaker transponders reliably, an 80cm would be recommended.

The dish/lnb will work, the digibox won't.

Scratch across the joints always before loosen and then you can get back exactly.

Pencil lasts nearly indefinately too (not good on Sky Black paint, but on grey mounts good), pen vanishes. You can then mark each position as you find it and change your mind later easily.

you can add in a channel or two via other channels very messy though as you are limited to Symbol Rate of 27.5 or 22 (which covers most channels) , and the digi box may have a hissy fit when it doesn't get it's expected feed

    services
    4 system setup
    4 add channels

    http://www.lyngsat.com/astra19.html
    11597 V 22000-5/6 is Sky News International

you can only get the channels in pale yellow and unless the sofware is better than it used to be you will only get about 20 other channels before it bugs out

Every other satellite box will scan for channels / have a lot more symbol rates

do you get any good english channels here?
any particular reason for moving there?

Not many english channels. Mostly German.

For ALL the channels (esp pay TV) in rain you need 80cm dish.

took a bit longer because someone hadn't left a cable on the LNB
if you do the above you get
    CNBC Europe
DW-TV ( German news / magazine every 4th hour or so is in English )
    BBC World
    Sky News

You can add more - but it's a real pain to change channels - having to go
services 6 [enter pin] arrow arrow arrow select each time
more a leave it on one channel sort of thing

hang about, I'll have to setup eurosport again - get the E

    11259 V
tp 4 LyngSat Logo Eurosport Deutschland [LyngSat Address] [LyngSat Guide] [Teletext] PAL

    12226 H tp 91 27500-3/4

Doesn't always pickup a transponder on first attempt.
or on 10th for some - or a lot of the time if you retry the transponder you know works because you can watch the channels on it - "No Signal"

Are you sure you can still get non Astra2 channels on a digibox?
The software has been "improved" meaning you can add 50 favourites, but you can no longer access the Add Channels unless the box boots up on Astra2.
You could possibly trick it by booting up on Sky then switching manually to another lnb getting feed from Astra1.
Never tried, not really worth the effort
