Tree stump/trunk removal

We've cut down all the hedges & trees at the perimeter of our front garden & now have the stumps to deal with. I'm concerned that the roots will continue to grow effecting the perimeter wall & the foundation of the house. I'm not keen on getting a root grinder. Anyone have any suggestions?

Bluefoam, For the sake of your garden I would avoid using oil as a stump killer.
Instead use a "root-out" type product which will not leave the residues that oil could.
