Any other Red's fans not have much confidence ih Andersens abilities?

I dont think he completed a single pass yesterday and he never seems to do anything whenever he plays.

Am I th eonly one or is someone seeing something in his play that I'm missing?

he has the potential to become a very good player, a lot of people seem to forget the guy is only 19.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,825 ✭✭✭Mikeyt086

    Yeah your missing something.

I think if you read the United thread you would find Anderson is one of the most loved players in the squad. He is absolute class and he is only 19. He was poor in the 2nd half yesterday and it seems he is tired after a long season, but he has been nothing short of a revelation this season with Scholes out as long as he has been.

He tackles, he is very quick, he has brilliant passing, hes got the passion, you can youtube his tricks, he is yet to be bossed by Gerrard or Fabregas twice this season.

I am confident in his abilities and honestly you are the first person i have seen say that they are not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

He's been **** since Scholes came back. Why? Because he's been pushed forward generally into an AMC role, which he just hasn't gotten used to yet in English football.

He was great at the start of the season, playing in a 2 man midfield, tracking back, tackling, winning the ball, and then either making some great driving runs, or making some great passes.
He still hasn't found his shooting boots yet, at all, which is why he looked so poor yesterday, because his shooting was just very bad. I didn't think he was particuarly bad yesterday, and certainly did well to ensure we dominated midfield.

I think its only natural that when you move to a different style of football, your defensive game as a midfielder is going to be adjusted quicker than your attacking game. He still has ooddles of attacking ability, and when he gets it adjusted to the English game, he really is going to be some player.

As an Arsenal fan, I would love to have that kid, what you talk about will come with experience, his physical quality is immense...

    He will be huge imo

    Thanks, I'm missing something then.

I wont be harsh on the kid and try to watch him differently.

Thanks Mikey, I dont know any other Man U fans that watch them as much as I do (Which is whenever they are on TV) to have the discussion.

The kid is gonna be a superstar.

He had a great first half yesterday. The ball he played into Rooney for the one-on-one with Reina was sublime, should've been finished off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,467 ✭✭✭smemon

and he never seems to do anything whenever he plays.

WTF?! Anderson is the best young player we have at United.

He can will the ball, run with the ball and has bags of energy in the midfield area..

Yesterday, yeah, he wasn't great, but so far this season he's looked like an excellent prospect imo.

He's the real deal. (and I'm an Arsenal fan)

Saw him at the youth world cup before he went to utd and he was head and shoulders above everyone else. Now he's playing with fully grown men, it's a bit more difficult for him but he'll bulk up.

The only question mark about him is whether he will he acquire the in-game vision to replace someone like Scholes. I think he'll definitely be more physically imposing and able to go past people though.

He was 'alright' for the last 2 or 3 games....... prior to that he was great. I'm certainly not writing him off just yet! Looks to me like he's gonna be immense.

did you not see him play the pass of the match into rooney in the first few minutes of the game? he is a quality player. only 19 years old too. he will be better .

I guess after seeing all his missed passes in the second half I had forgotten about the feed to Rooney.

Looks like my thoughts were definitely in the minority and I haven't seen him as others have. :(

That through ball was sublime, wasn't it? And with his left foot too!

He's left footed, but it was still a cracking pass.

Defiintly in the minority. While his form has dipped in recent games, he has had an excellant debut season imo.

Sure he is on a bit of bad form lately but as we all know form is temporary. He's a quality player. The fact that he's only 19 adds to the bargain! He's basically United's Fabregas (coming from an arsenal fan thats big praise). I certainly would have liked it had Wenger snapped him up.

Now where is that Anderson Is God signiture guy?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,894 ✭✭✭evad_lhorg

the only thing he needs to work on is his shooting because it has been terrible.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 41,926 ✭✭✭✭_blank_

He's a great little player imo.

Tenacious, hungry for the ball, right attitude on the pitch, has some skill.

PHB is right, he's been a bit lacking of late, with Scholes back, but he will improve that aspect next season.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,203 ✭✭✭Attractive Nun

I also expect him to be one of United's best players over the coming years. Shooting excepted, he seems to have it all.

In fairness, I'd say it is due to a lack of confidence in front of goal at the moment. As soon as he gets a goal I think he will improve 100% in this area of his game.

would a single goal not represent a 100% improvement anyway?

    Well what's 100% of 0? 0!

    0 + (100% of 0) = 0

    :D He's constantly improving!

Meh, He has had a few dynamic performances but seems to be hugely rated, especially on this board. Give him time and we will see but cant see where he will fit in as they have Hargreaves already who i think is a very good player.

heh, i kinda agree with this. i'm not sure United's where he'll make his name. things don't often work out as intended at Old trafford tbh, and what is that stat, only 1 out of 3 transfers are a success? I personally feel out of three who've arrived in 2007 that Nani will go onto become the most valuable squad member of the lot...

As soon as Scholes retires, there's a spot open in midfield. Scholes isn't past it yet, but when he does retire Anderson will still only be in his early 20's. I think that was always the plan, I don't think anyone predicted that Anderson would be playing this much football in his first season.

Nani is more erratic than Anderson. When he's good, he can be spectacular, but it needs to be more consistent. Anderson has shown a bit more maturity in his performances IMO.

I have said it on boards before he even signed and I'll say it again, this lad is gonna be the next superstar and he has the most potential of any player in the United squad in my opinion. (I said that bit before too)

I said it to my United supporting mates last year when he signed that he will be one of the best players in the world in a few years. They were all banging on about Nani mainly because they hadnt seen Anderson, he has everything a midfielder needs to be the best. He will outshine Nani in a few years, no doubt in my mind about that.

Ditto, Ive been harping on about Anderson since he signed while most others went on about Nani. Cant wait to see the best of this boy.

Having said that, Nani is showing very similar signs to Ronaldo when he first came. Albeit with a hell of a lot more end product - 4 goals and 13 assists.

F*ck me! I wasn't aware that he had so many assists... That is quite impressive for his first season playing a bit part role.

He will be class. He has had an excellent first season in a season where he was supposed to be nothing more than a bit part player. ONly the injuries to Carrick Scholes and Hargreaves put him in the team, his form has kept him involved.

He has been tiring in the second part of games but I believe this is due to a number of factors.

    1) He only came back from a broken leg last year, missing 5 months of the 06-07 seaason.

    2) He did not have a full pre-season, or summer rest due to the Copa America.

    3) A season in the English premiership is a lot more physically demanding than the Portugese or Brazil leagues.

I firmly believe that with a summer off, and a full pre-season that he will be pushing to be first choice next year.

    Anderson - son son son
    He's been better then Kleberson
    Anderson - son son son

Are the Olympics recognisied by Fifa? I ask this as would Manchester United be forced to release him for the Olympics. As they dont start till August this will be when the English season is just starting again.

I seem to rememeber this occuring 4 years ago with Heinze and Ronaldo. They ended up playing, the only reason I thought they actually went is because the players wanted to go rather than they had to go.

Either way he should still get the summer off and get in a pre-season, they onyl difference he will start the season with Brazil rather than Man U.

Anderson was bought for the future, its a bonus what we are getting out of him this season. At 19 , he's only a nipper, going to be a tremendous player. Nani too, will only improve, both are still only novices with amazing potential.

Nani is older (2 years) and more complete that Anderson. I think Nani could be as good as Giggs, but not as good as Ronaldo.

Anderson is up there, and he's only 19. He has everything bar shooting boots so far, and that'll come with time. The big advantage he has over Fabregas as a potential player is that he's fast and can dribble, however he isn't as good as a passer as Fabregas. I think Anderson can catch up to Fabregas' level in 2-3 years. I think he's just amazing.

Nani has that end product, but is still very inconsistant. [Note however that most of Nani's assists have come from his excellent corners]
Anderson has not much end product yet, but he just has that touch of class, one might even say that touch of Scholes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,917 ✭✭✭✭astrofool

I don't think Nani will ever eclipse the Giggs of old, but if he comes anywhere close, he'll be a bargain.
