SLi with two Ultras is indeed madness.

However, you can't dispute the attractiveness of a 9600GT SLi setup.

They're pretty selective benches though Papu, not to mention that 9600GT beats 3850 Crossfire. Plus, who cares about 3dmark...

Throw up Benches for UT3, COD4, Crysis....games people really play these days...last time I checked Nvidia held all those crowns easily! :D

from what i've seen the 8800gt is more powerful than the 9600.

    but 9600 is wayyyyy better!!

plus this thread sucks and has gone way off topic. the guy hasn't enough knowledge to spec a computer not to mind build one!!

    http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/geforce_9600_gt_sli_performance/default.asp

For example look there - 9600GT Sli easily beats the 3870X2 in most games by a decent margin....and can be gotten for 260-280 euro....

and the 9600Gt is miles better then a 3850...

Say aye if this thread should be locked at this stage...

    Aye

3850's are about 110 each or so, you can get the 512 version for about 130
the reviews i linked were the 256Mb version.

also the 3870X2 is very meh card.

anyway i've made my point , wouldn't touch a sli mobo with a long stick, 3850 is still the best bang for buck , and ati are having nice price drops in the whole 3800 series soon \0/

    Build one!

Picking the parts is much harder than building it, someone with no pc knowledge at all could build one easy...

Anyway, I think you should just heed the advice of everyone here and give up your Howard Hughes-esque crusade.

    ....

As mentioned before, you are obviously a novice in this area and so your best bet would be to take a well specced machine from someone here and enjoy some games.

Thanks, yeah Sadly i am a novice when it comes to specing a gameing machine, I have built a lot of pc's in my time but not gamers. Sorry for all the hassle to everyone i sould have mentioned that fact at the start. I have read everyones posts and thank you all. I will be going back to the drawing board and reassesing everything.

    Thank you all.
