Well the thread speaks for itself. What do you guys absolutely make sure of before you get your send your recordings off to get mastered?

    Here is my list:

    1. Make sure the levels are as balanced as possible
    2. Make sure the mix is good
    3. Make sure the album has a consistent sound
    4. Make a triple backup of everything
    5. Burn a backup to DVD
    6. Make sure the tracks are topped and tailed correctly
    7. Listen to the album after taking a 2 week rest from it
    8. Show the album to non music types and get a general perspective

Any suggestions would be most welcomed!

    1. make sure there is space in the mix
    2. make sure the mix is coherent
    3. make sure the mix is perfect for the song in general
    4. make sure it sounds as good as records I like. aim to be slightly better
    5. make sure there is enough silence at the start and finish
    6. Make sure the waveform isn't clipped
    7. Make sure there is no sub eating up headroom
    8. make sure the overall spectral characteristics are consistent with records in the same genre.
