    Singapore is pressing ahead with a determined vision of the importance of broadband infrastructure.

    It is a shame that we will be/are competing against these guys to attract FDI, encourage innovation, promote teleworking, provide improved public service, sell products internationally etc. etc.

    Ireland will never be able to compete with Singapore or any other 2nd world economy never mind 3rd world economies...
    There is no foresight, political leadership or any other form of forward thinking here.
    We can't even legislate on simple things like obligatory carrier neutral ducting.
    Every good idea is corrupted by political malaise and laziness.

    I'm sure somebody will be along now to tell us why we cannot do it.
    Which is utterly the wrong way...
    We should be thinking about how we *can* do it, because it's a necessity.
