Have an 01 renault megane, just bought it less then a year ago but the coils keep blowing in it.

Going to bring it back to the main dealer tomorow too get another coil replaced yet again.

They told me this is a common problem with the cars.

Does anyone know if there is a permanent fix for this problem or anything too look out for ?

    Yep, very, very common problem.

The first thing is, don't just replace one coil - they work better if changed as a set. You can now buy them online for - iirc - Eur 100 for a set of 4. Also, make 100000% sure they are the right plugs, and are 100000000% fully seated.

They way I look at it is, coils are what go wrong, and they cost XXX. It's a 5-minute job to fix.

I'd prefer that to dodgy turbos, ECU's, etc etc, that the world and his mother can't fix.............the devil you know vs the devil you don't, and all that..........

btw, Opels/VW's etc have the same issue, but not as often........

We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Renault are notorious for this problem. If you bought the car less than a year ago, get them to replace all four coils for FREE €70+ Vat from a main dealer, and thats EACH.

I just replaced all four on my laguna today.

Renault know about this problem and have only changed manufacturer recently, ask any renault mechanic what the number one problem accross the range is and I bet they all come back with the same answer.
(that is probably after: Electrics, electrics and electrics)
