    Hi folks

Just looking for a little advice here.

Our 18 month old Golden Retriever Suzi developed a habit of chewing the corner of the rug in our sitting room afew weeks ago.I thought we had stopped the behaviour and so bought a new rug yesterday.

We got home this evening to find that she has started to chew the new one. The Mrs is not happy!

Suzi was home alone all day today which is very unusual so perhaps it was just boredom but does anyone know a way to discourage this sort of behaviour when we're not around to correct her?

    Cheers.

    Definetly boredom.

If you're not there to correct her, there's nothing you can do.
Give her something else to chew on (Kong) and take the rug away for safety.

Close the sitting room door? Leave her outside?

Putting the dog outside or keeping her in a room away from the rest of the household is a sure fire way to end up with a large dog with behavioural issues!
Make sure she has plenty of exercise and toys to play with and chew. If you catch her trying to chew something she isn't supposed to be chewing i.e. your rug tell her NO firmly and praise her if she starts chewing on her own things. she should soon learn what she is allowed to chew and what she isn't. Kong toys are supposed to be good to keep them occupied for ages trying to get the food out. :)
