Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Carver cascade overhaul

Does anyone know if a quote of €200 for an overhaul of a Carver Cascade boiler unit is reasonable? It's from an '88 camper [which is in great condition] but the boiler unit itself is not igniting - thought the igniter itself is ticking when switched on.
Any advice would be appreciated. Also anyone know a good dealer in parts for old campers - it's an Elddis coachbuilt on a Talbot Express cab.

    Cheers,

In my opinion ...beggars can't be choosers.

Very few people would even consider overhauling something that old and try to sell you new instead.

200 € ...thats 2-3 hours work and a few bits ...sounds fair enough.

    Who's doing it, btw?

We've got the quote from Crazy Camping just outside New Ross. Even if it was bit more it wouldn't be too bad. The camper is in very good condition with excellent interior so it would be great to have the hot water unit running perfect too.

Thanks for that - Camolin isn't far from here anyway and it's always good to have a couple of options,

Your Carver water heater is 20 years old. Camping Crazy have quoted you 200euro for an overhaul, that means a complete overhaul. Not a bad price. You can take an hour to take out the unit. The burner unit is about 140 euro and give a fitter 40 euro an hour . I think you are doing very well. I have found Camping Crazy very good in my dealings with them.
