Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Butt just scored an absolute screamer! Perfectly hit shot into the bottom corner. Hilarious stuff :)

It was just such a silly goal. Nobody saw it coming. No way he should have that much space, but its Butt so who cares, oh wait, its gona it the bottom corner. Robinson just watches it move past.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,815 ✭✭✭Charlie

    Good man Nicky Butt.

Probably slightly lucky to be going in 1-1, but we were knocking on their door for the first 10 and Beye was very unlucky not to smash that in.

Spurs look the more fluid of the two sides, but Newcastle are still passing the ball around neatly and not giving away silly possession like we have for alot of the season.

Duff on the bench today so he may get 25 mins (or more) and that time on the pitch will be important for him to prove himself.

It's not a bad game, I don't see Newcastle winning it though, a draw will suit me.

The model of society Joey Barton just shaved the post. Unlucky.

Nice laydown form Taylor, and good technique in the shot.

    BOOM!! Good man Geremi!!!

ha, Robinson is a shocking keeper, end of. Newcastle will still lose I'd say :)

And yet again Robinson exposed from a free kick

Superb performance from Newcastle. Love watching Viduka when he's in this form.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,000 ✭✭✭Cionád

Oh yes!!! Thats it, we are safe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,815 ✭✭✭Charlie

The midfield and front men are linking perfectly and Owen, Martins and Viduka all seem to be on the same wavelength.

MOM though so far has to be Butt, getting a real engine going in there.

Anyone elses picture gone aswel? [EDIT] No worries, she's back now.

That really should have been a 4th from Owen.

keegan has his detractors, and he wasn't my first choice, but there's not a hope Big Sam would have turned around a 1 nil deficit, away from home, to what we are seeing here today.

Everyone's playing for eachother, even the defence are keeping it tight even though we're 4-1 up.

    Well ....

I feel bad for Boro ..they deserved at least a draw .. this was the worst performance i saw by Chelsea
since the 0-0 against Liverpool .. absolutely terrible passing by Chelsea.

Im happy that we won, but that type of luck will only take you so far,
I'll be happy with 2nd and united to win .. just so long as we finish above Arsenal...

Grant is indeed a poor manager and will show (has shown) in the big games ..
i think last week we were lucky to beat Arsenal, 1st goal being offside etc..

Hopefully we will have Rikjaard next season ..

9/10, damn Newcastle, they were due it though.

So do you still want to see Newcastle (or Keegan) go down??

Based on today's performance we're far too good to go down. Keegan and Newcastle will easily bring a lot more to the Premiership than, say, Bolton.

Loved Ashley's celebrations today. London rags will probably spin it that he'd just found a buyer for the club/.

Today was also probably the best I've seen from us since the Robson era.

thats a bit rich considering based on yesterdays perfomances other teams relegated themselves. The fact you could have been would be most owrrying.

So did Bolton lose to themselves yesterday or did Arsenal not beat them? Rich how? We were awesome today. 'Could have' means very little. We could have beaten Blackburn by 3 goals, could have done this, it could have been that etc etc.

Keegan deserves a lot of credit today for the way we went at them. At 2-1 instead of trying to defend a 1 goal lead we killed the game and 'could have' scored more. I can't imagine Allardyce or any other relegation threatened team dare try that away from home.

Too true son, but the guttersnipes will always view Keegan with contempt and wish nothing but ill on our club.

How many posts have there been on this board since KK took over, scoffing and laughing at him? The man knows good football and goes out and trys to play the game as it should be. Look how much better we have been passing the ball lately, keeping it on the deck, retaining possession, moving forward in numbers. Allardyce beat such things out of alot of the 1st team, and implemented a hoof it up to lone man Owen policy.

To get the boys playing the sort of football they did today, KK deserves respect.

    Stupid comment imo.

If a team goes down, they aren't good enough for the division they have been relegated from. No matter who they are.

That said, I think Newcastle are safe enough now.

So, by the magic of logic, they are too good to go down!

People were saying West Ham were "too good to go down" a few years ago.

    Clearly, they weren't.

Anybody remember Notts Forest? Anyway, I think Newcastle have a lot to think about over the summer, but that'll be a damn sight easier as a Premiership team.

Mainly just a defense that doesn't fall apart when it gets put under pressure. If they had that they could be challenging for 5th, because Owen\Viduka\Martins backed up by Milner and N'Zogbia is as good a forward line as you'd find outside the top 4. Combined with Parker and Barton in mid, and the rest is just down to defense.

Personally, I wanted Newcastle not to go down because of Keegan, I love Keegan, seems like a nice guy, likes good football, and always hilarious.
I wanted them to go down because of their fans unrealistic expectations, and how the club keep firing managers without giving them a chance.
