The EPT in San Remo, Italy April 1st-5th is completely sold out and players should not travel to the venue unless they have already secured their seat or intend to win one in the Super Satellite being held at the venue. The original capacity was 500, but an additional 100 seats were added due to the high demand which will take the field to 600.

Please do not attend unless you already have your seat.

We will continue to try to increase capacities at all our venues in order to satisfy the increase in demand.

    EPT Management Team

One hypothesis is that there isn't as wide or as frequent of a selection of well-structured tournaments and events in Italy and on the continent meaning that when a well structured event comes to town, people flock to it in droves.

In Ireland we have the likes of BigSlick, JP and PokerIreland (and many others) all running great events on a regular basis so when large buyin events such as the EPT and the Irish Open come about, they no longer appeal to those who simply like to play good poker. And if they do appeal to the players, then they no longer have the money to play having played 4 similar events already.

Ireland also has more difficulty in attracting foreign players (in large numbers) given how inaccessible the country is (only option is to fly).

    Just my 2c.

i was more suggesting than an EPT of 5k sells out but an EPT of 8k doesnt. i was not comparing this to the IO, to be fair, while PPP had alot of marketing behind them, the fact of the matter is the EPT has much more marketing power and italy can get players much more easily from surrounding countries than ireland and stars can run no cash alternative sats to it. i reckon the IO would have had 1200+ if they had had online sats on stars.
