Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Darren - sorry about that, but I feel something strange about that picture. Great composition, but could that be "overdone" HDR?

Darren-For me that's an "oh wow" kind of shot, really really like it, great composition, and i'm presuming HDR?

No HDR involved in this. It's a preset I created in lightroom. I think you are right it does look a little overcooked. I'm going to have a look at it again.

leohoju, not a fan of the processing used on that second 1, got it without it just to compare?

I like 'em. Particularly the first one.

leohoju, tell me you didn't lug a tripod up the Inca Trail!
I did the trek about 10 years ago with a mate's new camera and every shot was out of focus.

Not at the moment I'm afraid (on an external HDD, which isn't with me). I can post one without the processing later to see which is preferred.

Thanks. Nope, no tripod for the whole trip. I was struggling enough with the backpack and heavy camera, that a tripod would have made it nigh on impossible!

Lehoju - if it wasn't so over-HDR-manipulated, they could be excellent photos.

don't want to offend anyone with this HDR. Tell me if it's OTT or just bad. thanks

No HDR used on any of those shots, a fair bit of post-processing was done in Photoshop though. I'll certainly admit that! :)

    jank, thats a lovely shot.

Where was the elevated location you took it from. Sacre Cour/Montmarte ?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 13,018 ✭✭✭✭jank

That was taken from Tour Montparnasse.
It has the best view in paris by a long shot. Gets quite windy up there so taking a night shot with no tripod is no mean feat.

To be honest i thought most of my shots from there were poor but what can i expect if i dont have a tripod.

I look around at flickr and this site and my photos always seems to pale in comparison.
I dont know is it me, the camera or the fact i dont ever photoshop them after to make them look better

    Im only new at this.

I took loads in paris in the day (and night!) but i was dissappointed by lots of them , alot were blurry. I probably rushed them thinking quantity over quality.

Ill post up another one there sure

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,048 ✭✭✭RoryW

photo blur can come from shutter speed or camera shake. but what do I know !

I'm in Paris for a few days at the moment :)

.....so may take a trip up to Montparnasse with the camera and tripod as never been to that part of Paris

I think i was too pre-occupied with getting everything in focus so i had a small apperature which gives bigger shutter speed. Ill know next time sure

Let me know how u get on. Go there at dusk You can take photos when its bright head downstairs for a beer ,go back up when its darkish. You will get some great shots

And of course post them up here.
