Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

was going to post this in one of the other FE1 threads but didnt want to hijack so just a quick question.

can you sit the FE 1's at any time?? for example:
im finishing my 1st year of my law degree in may and ill have tort, contract and constituton done, so is it possible and would it be wise to attempt those FE1's this year as they are fresh in my head and it would lighten the workload after the degree to already have them under my belt??

In order to sit the FE-1's you must have either passed the preliminary exam or be exempt from it. To be exempt from it you must have an honours degree in any subject or have donkeys years verifiable experience as a law clerk.

So in short, unless you have a degree under your belt already the answer is NO

so is there anything you could recommend i could do during my degree to speed up the process when i finish or is it just a case of sit tight and let one thing come at a time?

The FE1s are hard exams, and while your ambition is admirable, I'd suggest getting as much as you can from your degree first, and then worry about the FE1s.

Work some more on your CV so that you can get a traning contract (if that's an issue for you).

I would say getting off boards and finishing your assignments would be a good start.:D

Me thinks that the website still refers to ye olden times when a degree really was a degee or as it is now called under the new system a level 8 award/honours degree. I don't think the law society will accept a Diploma masquerading as a degree otherwise and know known as an "ordinary degree"/level 7 award. Bottom line is I think the Law Society means a real degree and not a mickey mouse one!

well i have what you'd call an "ordinary degree", have 7 fe-1s done and never had any questions/problems from the law society

    from the law society website:

University graduates from Ireland and the United Kingdom or holders of degrees (regardless of the discipline) awarded by the Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC) are exempt from this examination. Holders of such degrees are not required to apply for exemption from the Preliminary Examination but they must provide a certified copy of their degree certificate when applying to sit the Final Examination - First Part.

I have an ordinary law degree from DIT and the Law Society have confirmed to me that this is perfectly fine! I am going back to do the honors year in Sept anyways but once it says degree they don't mind!!
