Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just got a ticket (thanks to my mates girlfriend). Happy Days. Even though I only know about 10% of the acts playing I am still looking forward to my 4th year at EP. Think I will be spending most of it at the comedy and dance tents (and any after hours parties I can find) :D

Well from looking at that weather report the sun is going to be very very shy for the EP weekend. At least though we wont get burnt or wet. I will probably be sleeping in the dance tent anyway :D so it will make no odds to me.

I heard a silly rumour that Picnic maybe cancelled, apparantley the weather has been so bad they haven't been able to set everything up properly. Somebody please tell me this is just one of those idiotic rumours that we often hear before a big event..

    Totally true I'm afraid.

On a totally unrelated topic, would you like to buy some magic beans? (and I'm not talking disco biscuits here!)

Unless health and safety told them to cancel it they wouldnt. The amount of money tied up in the whole thing is immense. It would probably be the end of Pod and Aiken if they had to cancel it so it wouldnt happen short of the entire site being under 2 feet of water and even then theyd probably still try and put it on.

Speaking of which: I need a tent, sleeping bag, poncho and wellies. In particular: wellies. I hear they're sold out. Where in Dublin can you get these? And as for tents (mine died last year), for a good, sturdy but reasonably priced 4-man tent, where's the best place to go?

I got this exact one off ebay last year, same seller, survived ****** and ep.....

While were on the subject of tents, mines been curled up in a ball since ep07, what's the best way to clean/air them out etc? I reckon there's some bang off it now...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,731 ✭✭✭DadaKopf

What happened mine was I loaned it to someone who didn't air it out BEFORE putting it back in the bag. If yours was wet when you put it away, chances are it's infested with mildew. You need to take it out, see if it's infested. If you're lucky, leave it outside (when it's dry) and it should be OK. Assuming the air's warm enough to lift off any moisture.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,339 ✭✭✭✭drunkmonkey

I think we just woke up Monday morning and stuffed it in the bag, don't think it was wet (maybe some booze spillage).....I presume you can see the mildew? Been waiting for a dry couple of days to air it out....no luck yet....

What's the latest on this being cancelled due to flooding?

Guys don't even bother checking the forecast until a day or two before the festival. Irish weather just isn't that predictable.

My god.. If that's the weather... **** me!

What's the best campsite do folks think? Andy looks a bit out of the way...

i'm thinking about the one where the dance arena is....is it James Wylde or something.....thinking it looks a bit to close to the entrance....

    Savage forecast.....:)

Try Michael Guineys, i got some for the picnic 2 years ago, im sure they were only around a fiver....

http://www.joe-bananas.co.uk do wellies for about 16euro that you can then pick up at the festival. Pricey enough but it saves dragging them there I guess and at least theyd be guaranteed for you as well so you dont have to worry about them selling out.

The camping shops down around Capel St and Little Mary St should have proper Dunlop wellies for 20 quid. I picked up a cheap, but decidedly girly pair in Penneys; not sure what the man-welly situation is though.

Tent this yr is courtesy of the Argos Sale :) They have sleeping bags too!

Theres noting on the site that timetables are on their way but they had them in the past so we can hope. Probably be Wednesday or Thursday if the previous years are to go by.

Havent heard anything about Lordi? Any source on that? Would make a funny addition for the 5pm Main Stage slot on the Friday.

Ive been listening to some of the artists on the line up that I aint heard before. Santogold sounds quite good. On first listen seems like good pop music.

Anybody know of any places where I could buy a cheap Gazebo? I want to bring one to EP and so I went into Argos and Woodies but they only have those ones that you have to screw together. I was looking for a fold up type one.

Im heading up to Enniskillen tomorrow for my monthly food shop to Asda so i decided to check out the Argos site to see what type of Gazebos they have up there. Saw this one
    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6501455/Trail/searchtext>GREAT+DEALS+ON+GARDEN+FURNITURE.htm
so I have reserved it. It weights 15 Kg so not too bad. Just have to find a steel trolley or some pulley device to transport this along with my tent, fisherman chairs, drink etc etc :D

I can echo that. I was down at the venue today and can assure everyone, things are going to plan. Weather wasn't helping matters but many people getting on with plenty to do.

Must admit the whole Body and Soul area will really be a cool hangout spot.

Uh oh. Weather forecast has taken a pretty disastrous nose dive. 100% cloud cover for most of the weekend with heavy rain on Saturday & Sunday. BLAH.

After being down at the site yesterday can't believe how wet the place is.

All joking aside it's going to be a mud bath.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,829 ✭✭✭Toast

Youd be amazed how quickly the ground can dry up. Glastonbury this year WAS a mudbath for 2 days and pretty much dried up within hours of the sun actually getting its act together. Werchter was the same. Talking proper dried up ditch the wellies and sit on the grass and everything. Of course we'll still need the sun and that metcheck forecast is being a bit of a tease.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,588 ✭✭✭Bluetonic

Of course the ground can dry pretty quick but a a couple of inches of water under the foot and already caked mud in places where there is a path wouldn't be cleared up by even moving the earth towards the sun.

Undoubtedly the ground is going to be very bad.

The forecast has changed again...for the better. Quite sunny and very little rain. I suppose its so changeable that theres no point even looking at a forecast.

hrm, is there an echo in here? Guys stop watching the forecast. It will only be (barely) accurate the day before the event.
