    hi

does anyone know how you can find out if your telephone line is on a pargain/splitter. i phoned eircom and i was told that there is no way of finding out and even if i was on a pargain then there is no chance of being removed from it.. is this information correct??
i currently get 24-30kpbs on dial up. i was told by an eircom engineer that my line is perfect for Broadband but im too far from exchange. but i understand that if im on a pargain, then i will have no chance of getting broadband!

It can't be perfect AND too far from exchange.

A pair gain is usually lower speed, but that is a low dialup speed, which does sound bad for BB.
If you are too far, then pair gain or not is irrelvent.

eircom will definately know if it is a pairgain.

Precisely how far are you, by road seeing as the lines follow roads ??

+1. Pairgain is the least of your worries.
