Well, Mister Waka. I think I know you personally and I have to say that my mobile phone inbox hasn't exactly been crashing with the volume of texts from you of late. :-) :-)

Keep in touch. We do go out....

Yes, folks. There are a few of us around the place. We don't have a very high profile. For one thing, there is no gay venue so we end up going to places like Mullingar or Kells. Indeed, the pub in Kells might be reaching the end of its days.

When we don't feel like leaving the town, we have to make do with places like McMahons, Brady's, the Farnham, the Imperial, An Sibin etc - the same places as the straights effectively.

Thats awful - having to hang with the straights. What must your gay friends from the rest of the country think about you?

[deleted this part - too negative]

It is terrible...living in cavan. Being gay and having (if you excuse the overused phrase) no outlet!!

I live in cavan and have tried to make local gay friends but they are terribly insular and closeted. And never want 'just friends'.

    BORED!

Sounds like you think you are the 'only gay in the village.'

I've not been on boards in quite some time, and I just came across this after searching something gay online, ANYWAY!

I just wanted to say, I'm openly gay, and living full time in Cavan. I know lots of gays from Cavan of which about 40% are actually out, and all but 2 (of about 15/20) live in Dublin!

I do tend to go up to Dublin at the weekends to socialise with my gay mates, as I find it very cumbersome going out with my straight mates, and getting hit on, when it happens, it's not like it's every night, if we go out local people just know I'm gay, but if we go to Cavan town they don't.

I read in GCN last year that Cavan did have a gay meet in the Bent Elbow, but was then told is fell through, and it's seemed really regimented or something, I never went, because I got an email regarding it, and it was more like we were outcasts using a room, not a normal bunch of people socialising.

I was wondering how are the cavan gays finding Cavan since this thread was started??
