My PC died a while back and I got a mac so that I could have a reliable work system however I want to play games !!

I was told that it was most likely a PSU so I put in one.. which subsequently popped... I put in a higher wattage one and nothing was differnent.

When I power on nothing happens.. CPU fan goes, green mobo LED lights up but nothing doing.
If I power on with no gfx card in I get a beep which I had tired to see if the mobo knew the difference.

Is it time for a new motherboard ? is it anything else as I am going to have difficulty replacing my mobo

The psu popped? I'd try an out of case build with minimal hardware.

I've tried that literally power gfx monitor and nothing...

could it be the ram ?

Are you getting any BIOS beeps or just the LEDs?

no beep unless the gfx card is out. 1 green LED on the main board itself

Hmm, hard to say. If you have 2 memory sticks you could try 1 at a time.

Could well be the mobo then. Reseat everything and give it another try.

Maplins have quite a few new s754 mobos in their clearance section, in Galway I saw a few for 30-40 euro.

I know what it means, and it's not Knackered or f*cked.

Like his mobo seems to be.
