Copyright to old photographs on online picture stores

    Hello,
I am wondering if sites selling printed versions of old pictures, e.g. http://www.oldirishimages.com or http://www.irelandposters.com, have copyright to them.
Generally, copyright expires only 75 years after the author's death and you would need permission from the author's heirs within that time if you wanted to use their pictures commercially. I'm curious about where these companies even get those pictures from, taking into account the copyright constraint.

    Cheers,
    X-Y-Z
