Squeaky Clutch Starlet

Hi- I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on this. I've a '99 Starlet with 61k miles. I've found recently that my clutch has been squeaking. This occurs when the car is both on and off. I'm wondering if I can use some WD-40 to remedy this or does anyone think it could be anything more serious?
