In the Irish Mail today page 2 , article by Niamh Lyons. The founder David Cochrane, of the popular Irish website Politics.ie says the Taoiseach's legal team forced him to shut down part of the members forum. A thread posted last Thursday night asked questions relating to Mr.Ahern's former secretary Grainne Carruth and his solicitors Frank Ward & Co. Two pages of responses followed from 6 different members of the forum. An email was sent to Mr.Cochrane from Liam Guidera of Frank Ward & Co.on Saturday morning. The Email suggested that the comments by the posters were "entirely untrue and grossly defamatory of this firm and its partners". The thread was removed and then Mr Guidera requested the identities of the 6 posters. Mr.Cochrane has refused as he did not feel comfortable providing his users' details to a firm of solicitors.

So the ramifications of posting anything via blogs or boards re politics is getting into dangerous waters or is it an over reaction from Mr. Aherns legal team?

We've deleted about ten threads on this subject over the weekend, just so everyone is aware. We'll be continuing to remove any further mention of it - it's just not worth the risk to leave open conversation on this topic continue at present as I hope everyone appreciates.

I'm leaving this thread locked but visible so everyone is aware of why these threads are being removed.
