Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

New BBC Sport Website

Just back from the 'new look' BBC sport website.

It looks like a car-crash design of a website. Seems so much harder to navigate and there just seems to be columns of information everywhere. It seems like the editor just lined up a cannon full of the latest news stories and then fired it on to the homepage. What a mess!

BBC Sport used to be the simplest site to access quick soccer updates and it became my site of choice after Sky Sports also changed their functional site to a flashy mess. This is certainly a step back for the BBC site.

If it aint broke, dont fix it!

Am I the only one who has a particular problem with this new site?

Yeah, it really is harsh to look at now. Hopefully its a work-in-progress, as the editor says!

i like it tbh. Don't find it that far of removed from the previous design.

My view is biased tho, I do a lot of web-development so i like good techincal designs :P

The page is far narrower than previously. See here -

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/default.stm

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport

Doesn't fill my screen any more and don't like that.

I thought the ed said that is was supposed to take advantage of wider screens or something?

It's a vastly improved UI, and ties in nicely with the homepage - http://www.bbc.co.uk/

I like the way you can customise the content.

As human beings we feel the need to complain and NAG all the time; i just had a look again to see what the fuss is about and i have to say it's good!!!

familiarity is one of the most important aspects of web design, or rather how quickly it is obtained. it should be intuitive to navigate, and like the old one it largely is, took all of 10 seconds to get used to. design is cack but meh... design was never one of the reasons i used the BBC site in the first place. and why are we giving out about flash? it doesn't use any...

and lads, here's the place to be discussing website designs.

Agreed. It's far less cluttered than before and a lot easier on the eye. The old one was perfectly functional, but it did have a 2001 kinda feel.

I like it too. Well done to the BBC.

... ...What's majorly different about it exactly? It looks fairly similar to what it was when I looked at it yesterday. It was never the greatest sports website but it's not terrible. I wouldn't even use the word 'bad' when describing it.

It seems like there trying to make it iphone friendly. The pages seem to fit perfectly and BBC have being doing stuff for the iphone such as making an iphone friendly iplayer and are also meant to be adding iphone compatible radio streams this month.
