Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

€15 question about Vista SP1

    Hi,

I'm planning on purchasing Vista Home Premium OEM from Dabs & not sure whether I should go for this version for €81.56 or the SP1 one for €96.58.

So, my question is - does SP1 version installs Vista SP1 straight away or does it install the older version first and after that applies SP1 update (which I could do myself by downloading the update from Microsoft website)?

I mean if it installs clean Vista SP1, then I don't mind paying €15 extra. Otherwise I don't see a point in overpaying.

Thanks a lot in advance for all your help.

I wouldn't bother paying the extra. All the slipstreamed version will do is save you having to install SP1 yourself, but as you're doing a clean install anyway I'd just install the RTM version then SP1 immediately thereafter as you sugest yourself.

Thanks a lot, Kaiser2000 for a speedy reply.

So, you're suggesting that SP1 version will install Vista SP1 in one go without having to apply update? That's good, because I find myself re-installing Windows from time to time, so this version would be preferable.

And the other point, will I need to buy some hardware to get this OEM version of Vista?

    Thanks a lot again.

Strictly speaking, yes you would have to buy hardware. OEM licences are only supposed to be sold with hardware - typically a motherboard but you can probably get away with just a mouse or something.

    Thanks a lot, Stephen.

I'm going to order an external hard drive anyway, so hopefully that will do.

    Thanks again.

Funnily enough they've reduced Vista SP1, so now it's even cheaper than the older one :)

Gotta love Dabs's pricing - one day it's €100, and the next day it's €80.
