Good to see Ferguson has continued his embarrassing CL record with an impressive 2-0 away win.

I can see the 2nd leg being an awfully boring match though

    Torres vs Toure | Gallas

This should be interesting tonight. imo Toure hasnt been the same guy since returning from ANC, Willy has also been guilty of some silly mistakes. Will Wenger go with Senderos and Toure at RB?

I reckon it will be Toure at RB with Swiss Tony in the centre, then the next big question is Walcott or Eboue ahead of Toure personally I would like Walcott against that Arelio chap would give him a good run for his money

Fergies record in the CL is poor though, there are fans of the club who don't remember 1999! Some of them are reading this :p

Yes, but I think the original quote of "embarassing cl record" was due to the amount of times ye have won it/made the final, not the win/loose/draw stats.

Anyway, I'm going for a very boring 0-0 tonight at the Arsenal.
And I'm predicting the turks to do Chelsea over two legs.(You heard it here first )

Discpline could have a big bearing on the Arsenal Pool tie
Gael Clichy, Denilson, Emmanuel Adebayor, Aleksandr Hleb and Emmanuel Eboue (Arsenal) and Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Fabio Aurelio (Liverpool) will miss the second leg of this tie if shown a yellow card.

good point. I cant see Gerrard & Carra not picking up a yellow tonight

Eboue is a given for a yellow if he starts for something ret@rded no doubt

hopefully there's no stupid bookings that will affect the tie of the round.

from a pool point of view a 1-1 draw would be brilliant.

Would be surprised if one of Gerrard or Carragher didn't get a yellow, especially since the Arsenal players will provoke them as much as possible, Carragher especially is prone to making rash tackles against tricky players.

Looking forward to tonight's match. I firmly believe that Arsenal will give themselves a commanding lead going into the second leg. A two goal winning margin imo. I hope Fenerbahce can get one over on Chelski but I won't hold my breath.

I don't think so. While the games between the two recently have been high scoring affairs, I think this one will be much tighter.

If Hleb gets booked tonight I'll be raging, his booking against Milan was absolutely ridiculous.

Theo has been doing well recently but I'd be inclined to keep him on the bench until the later stages of the game, when Liverpool will have less energy to keep him quiet.

following on from last nights 33/1 touch....

    hmmmmmmm bets tonight

    options

    Fabregas first goal +arsenal 2-1 45/1
    Adebeyor first goal +arsenal 2-1 30/1

    Drogba first goal +chelsea 2-0 28/1
    Lampard first goal +chelsea 2-0 40/1

will wait till I see the lineups and get a bolt of inspiration....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

    Schalke
    Adebeyor first goal +arsenal 2-1 30/1

    I'd go for that.

I'm hopin' the internet jinx is out tonight on that one ;)
On SSN there, saying Adebayor has never scored against Liverpool and has only one CL goal this season.
I reckon a draw tonight but hopin' for the 'pool win.

    Reina
    Carra-Skrtel-Hyypia-Aurelio
    Masch--Alonso
    Kuyt----Gerrard----Babel
    Torres

Subs: Itandje Riise Voronin Benayoun Crouch Arbeloa Lucas

    No great surprises here.

    Mike.

    I think Hyypia first scorer (14/1) + Pool 1-0 (13/2) looks decent :)

Anyone else notice that, when RTE showed the 'Pool starting lineup, they showed them as fielding 12 players. Doh!!

    I reckon this will be a 0-0

If there is a winner, Liverpool with a Torres goal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,904 ✭✭✭DeadSkin

Dunphy's off again!!!! He says he won't be surprised if Torres doesn't get a kick of the ball tonight, cause he get's no service :D:D:pac:

Arsenal should be banned for not playing a champions league type game to suit liverpool.

This high paced passing football has no place in the CL qtr finals.

he always does the Arsenal ones (the rare few on RTE). despite his affiliations with the club he's rarely biased though.
