Babel, wtf? lucky no one was pushed up on the left.

Babel shows a shocking lack of judgment some times, he's been poor so far.

Why is it the only one you can watch??
I presume you don't have a telly or are in a pub where they have that game on?

If you have a tv get hold of a clotheshanger and your sorted!:D
Arse V pool is on RTE2

About 60 seconds befor the goal I was wondering where Gerrard was. Could have had a couple more, Babel must learn to go down the line even if he hates it at worst he'll loose the ball well up the pitch and might force a throw or corner.

    Mike.

Happy with the first half. Babel really needs to perform in a big game at some stage. Hes been fairly poor in any game that matters this season.

Has potential, really hope he can achieve it.

Tried that but RTE2 is a bit a hazy in Germany with the coat hanger.:)
The Germans are showing the Chelsea match because of Ballack and I think the Fener coach is German aswell.

(Edit:In fact its Zico! dont know who the hell the Germans were interviewing.)

    Thanks for the thought though!

benitez has to learn from this season that babel has to be directly in front of goal,he isnt a winger. In saying that, his passing and vision is shocking at times.:(

Im glad for kuyt,he deserves it.His defending has been good aswell

In fairness it happened in Milan.

Great match, but jaysus Rafa take Babel off, he is shocking tonight, there was a five minute edgy period resulting entirely from his "clearance" up the other side of his own quarter

Skirtel is having a good game. Crackin run at goal by Gerrard.

    edit- here comes Walcott!

in fairness though he never looks comfortable in the role. he's not exactly naturally gifted going past people on his left. he has the potential to be a very good player, but i dont think it'll be playing as a winger.

Missed the first half, from watching the first half highlights; bad defending from Liverpool for conceded goal. Good work from Gerrard for the equalizer. Looks like Arsenal had more chances.

    he's rarely biased though.
    Not tonight tho.

"Oh I cannot believe that! That's got to be a penalty".

I wonder will he be as loud if liverpool get a peno appeal?

shocking decision dive by Torres free kick, then def peno for arsenal not given.

Gonna be a great result for Liverpool

Stunning goal from way outside the box.
    Poor from both teams otherwise.

Gutted at that, should have won. Good result for Liverpool, it is going to be difficult for Arsenal now, though they are certainly capable of scoring at Anfield.

Hleb was very disappointing. I thought Fabregas had a good game, as did Clichy and Gallas, who kept Klinsmann very quiet. Toure should have done better for the Liverpool goal. He's a great CB, but not of Sagna's class at RB.

Great result for Liverpool. Im happy with it. Liverpool MOM for me was Kuyt. Thought he was fantastic. Skrtel, Aurelio & Mascherano also played well. Very disappointed with Babel & Alonso.

    Schalke
Wow, Arsenal, what are you doing.

Bendtnar, what the hell is wrong with you?
Ref, how is that not a peno?
Hleb, what an amazing run, but shocking game overall.

Liverpool get a goal from one moment of absolute magic from Gerrard, what a player, and Dunphy wasn't far off with Torres getting very little to do anything with tonight.
Gerrard though, amazing performance, he did one thing wrong in the entire match, and defended from the front.
Alonso, when was the last time he played well? He's a shadow of the player he used to be off, him leaving to Real doesn't like that bad a prospect anymore for Liverpool.

p.s. Kuyt typifies himself tonight, with a goal from hardwork, and then utter utter utter terrible play at the very end of the match. If you got a decent player with his work rate,
    he'd just be amazing.

This tie is still wide open. away goal means Liverpool could try and hold on, but I think it'd be stupid. Arsenal ripped Liverpools defence apart at times, not a surprise considering Carragher was playing RB, and Hyypia and Srektle were in the middle.
Arsenal beat Liverpool 3 times I think from a route 1 ball, that's just silly.
They had one of their first choice defenders playing imo, maybe two if you include Arbeloa. If they play that back 4 in Anfield, I can't see Arsenal not scoring.
Still, it's gona be an exciting return leg.

p.s. Grant is ****. Chelsea will still go through, but in spite of him, and because the players they have are just class.

Caught me and all :( Well spotted Liamo. And well done on the impartiality....haha :pac:

Brilliant run from Gerrard re the goal. Babel was awful. MOM for me was Skirtel, always in the right place at the right time and not only defensively. Walcott threatened alot in the first few of the 2nd half but faded afterwards.

    .

Eh? Skirtel was on fire, Carragher played well.

As for pt 2, it will be either

a- An Arsenal win via poor pool defending and crap attack

b- A chronically boring Pool defensive affair ending in penos which I feel on past Reina form Pool would win

    c- Pool massacre of Arsenal

Arsenal were average, but I really cant see c happening.

b not possible unless the return game ends in a 1-1

I can recall many one-oners that have been excruciatingly boring.

Maybe not chronically, though. That is of course an entirely different level of boring. Maybe.

what are people's opinions on the Hleb claims for a peno? i felt it should have been given myself. the arms were up and made contact, which is a foul no matter how light the touch.

Good result for Liverpool, though to be honest they offered nothing in attack, will be interesting to see what approach they take at anfield. It was a clear penalty, how the ref did not give

I do think Arsenal will score in the second leg, but I also feel Liverpool might also, I can see extra time.
