Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Schalke

Congrat's L'pool better team over two legs.

    Hmmmm....

I'm glad Babel put the second goal away as the peno shout was 50/50.

Arsenal are like cut glass - perfectly crafted but so fragile.

    Mike.

am I the only one who thinks that Liverpool weren't that great?

    Schalke
    I really enjoyed that game.

Herbieflowers, no, I thought Liverpool were pretty poor, especially in the first half. They however took their chances when they came, which is what is required at this level.

Liverpool deserve to go through imo, but Arsenal are clearly the better team, just nowhere near clinical enough and happened to get unlucky with Sagna being injuried [then again, so was Agger, but Liverpool have more defensive cover].

Arsenal only have themselves to blame. Abedayour should have scored. It was clear that Arsenal players got tired as the game went on imo.

They created enough, should have scored. Eboue once again shows he is a shockingly bad player, and the one time he should dive, he bloody doesn't!

I'd say Chelsea will look at that match with glee. Shocking defending imo from Liverpool, they were ripped apart at ease. Lucky for them that Senderos is a **** defending. Losing Torres was bad, but at least you can say Torres' turn was brilliant, but how he marked Hyypia was just hilarious!!

Also it's pretty amusing that Liverpool get the penalty and Arsenal don't, but that's Liverpools luck in Europe, things go their way when they need to, and then they take advantage of them.

Still, I think the Chelsea players will relish this tie now, a chance for revenge, and Liverpool without Agger in defence really aren't great.

p.s. What a ****ing goal from Walcott, amazing run, he's the only Arsenal player I feel sorry for, because if they had won, it would have been his night.

Liverpool did what Liverpool do - enough. Its not art its about winning.

    Oh ****kkk - Chelsea again!

A fantastic game. It's been a while since I've been THAT excited! It was a joy to watch.

"Walcott's goal" (as Bill and Liam described it) reminded me of Owen against Argentina. I'm sure it would have gone down in legend if Arsenal held out.

    Great game.

Great game but I have to say as much character as 'pool have they got an unbelievable amount of luck. IMO no peno, also Babels goal is slighlty irrelevant because it would never happened had that peno been given. Accross both legs 'pool got all the luck.

Anyway chelsea again, I wonder if 'pool will have the fortune to have the 2nd leg at home as they always seem to in the big games.

I feel sorry for Brady - he is employed by Arsenal and when you see a video of a colleague, who I am sure he knows and gets on with, that makes him out to look like he is loosing the plot it is hard to sit there and take it

Here's hoping both United and Barca progress tomorrow night.

Then giving us a United - Liverpool and Chelsea - Barca semi-final.

United and Barca to progress, then we can see a real competition between the two best attacking teams in Europe.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,921 ✭✭✭✭Pigman II

Eh, United are paired with Barca, Liverpool with Chelsea.

Some great passing at times from Arsenal, some great goals, and a great game. Add to that the RTE post-match analysis party and you have a great Champion's League evenings viewing! Roll on Old Trafford tomorrow night where I don't think it's going to be all plain sailing for United.
